The baby was being a Charles when she cried all afternoon, Laurie did a Charles when he pulled his wagon full of mud through the kitchen, even my husband, when he caught his elbow on the telephone cord and pulled the telephone and a bowl of flowers off the table, said, after the first minute, "Looks like Charles!"
The symbolism in this paragraph is when something they do in that family is bad or something bad happens they call it Charles because Charles is a bad/mean person.
