Roger William Corman is an American film director, producer, and actor. He has been called "The Pope of Pop Cinema" and is known as a trailblazer in the world of independent film. Roger Corman collaborated with Burt Shonberg on two projects, his well known adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe's "The House of Usher" (1960) and "The Premature Burial" (1962). Both films use the art not merely as background images, but as integral parts of the story telling.
“He gave Jack Nicholson, Peter Bogdanovich, Ron Howard, Francis Ford Coppola, Jonathan Demme and Scorsese their first chance, He is, in my opinion, well beyond being a filmmaker on the edge. He created a whole new cliff, dove off and climbed back up many, many times. He’s one of my all time heros.” - Director John Waters on Roger Corman *
"His artwork was all about beckoning us onward into the realm of our dreams" - Peter Fuller excerpted from "Burt Shonberg | The psychedelic 1960s artist behind those haunting House of Usher portraits" *
