This page is supported by the residents of Kraslava.
Here you can find information about those people and organizations whose works restore and support the Jewish cemetery in Kraslava. Together we create a modern map of the cemetery, a list of graves, a catalog of their modern images with the restoration and translation of inscriptions on gravestones. As the results of this work appear, they will be available here.
Here you will also find links to information resources about the history of Kraslava, the Kraslava Jewish community, and the Holocaust in Kraslava.
Local volunteers in Kraslava.
Gleb Belyaev lives in Kraslava, he can lead a tour of places in the city connected with the life of the Jewish community, and help in finding information about relatives who lived in Kraslava. Contact: +371 28 104 158, glebbelyaev1970@gmail.com.
Gleb can also provide care for graves at the local Jewish cemetery, as well as help find the burial itself - if it is known that it is there or may be there. However, it should be remembered that approximately 80% of the territory of the cemetery is covered with forest, and so far no one has undertaken the task of clearing this place. Therefore, now we can only talk about approximately 300 graves that are located in the cleared area.
The Klaus-Peter Rex volunteer group.
The Klaus-Peter Rex volunteer group from Germany has been carrying out restoration work on Jewish cemeteries in Latvia since 2008. Every year the group members come to Latvia for this, and also work in the archives, restoring information about all graves and buried people, making maps, documenting the condition of the graves, providing assistance and offering cooperation to all interested persons.
