UDIS NEWS LETTER ISSUE #7

K2: Giant sunflowers - K2 planted their sunflower seeds over two months ago. They have now begun to produce some beautiful, yellow sunflowers which the kids are enjoying investigating. K2 have taken very good care of their sunflowers and are very proud of themselves for how big these have become.
Y2: Exploring new countries - This week Year 2 celebrated our UOI “Where We Are in Place and Time.” We have been exploring the idea of why people choose to live in the places they do. The children chose different countries to research, compared those to Thailand and then decided how they would present their learning. What excellent agency!
Y4: Solids, liquids and gases - In Year 4, we have been learning about solids, liquids and gases and how they can change when heated or cooled and the processes of evaporation and condensation. We have used this information in order to study ‘The Water Cycle’ to find out how and why it rains.
Y7/8: Loy Krathong - The Year 7/8 class enjoyed making environmentally friendly Krathongs to celebrate this special holiday. They also participated in sharing the history of this celebration and why it takes place each year during our school event.
Student success - Atom in Y5/6 : Atom was given a Rubik's cube for his birthday and he decided he wanted to complete the cube as fast as possible. He investigated how to do this, and then spent a whole lot of time practising. Currently his quickest time is 27 seconds. Well done, Atom, for your dedication and hard work in this endeavour. We are very proud of you!
Thai language - My home Year 1 have been learning about "My Home" which linked to the UOI of the homeroom class. Learners summarised the benefits of their own homes using Thai. They then made items for their house out of playdough and practised the language for these.
Staff intro - Ice in Y3 Hello everyone, I’m Ms. Thippapha Ruenrom. Please call me Ms. Ice. I am the Year 3 Teaching Assistant. I am thankful for Mr. Kaldi, the goat herder who first discovered the wonderful potential of the daily booster beans (coffee beans) to this world! ☕️☕️☕️ This helps me keep up with all the excitement and learning in Year 3.

Parent Representatives update

At our last Parent Representative meeting on Monday, 7 November, we followed up on suggestions raised this term and how we actioned these across the school. Some of these actions have focused on the canteen, Toddle expectations, and implementing times for sharing student successes. We will have a full parent meeting (PTA) on Monday, 28th November. All are welcome to join.
