AKU-SONAM recognizes that a people-centric organization is more effective, respectful, inclusive, and socially just. Through philosophical and operational efforts, we will develop graduates, alumni, faculty, and partners prioritizing diversity, caring, and global citizenry. We are committed to adopting and promoting an environmentally friendly culture.

Objective 10: Create a caring and safe people-centric culture and environment

  • Support culturally safe and equitable teaching-learning, work, and practice environments
  • Embed diversity, inclusivity and equity
  • Ensure people-centric spaces and practices, which invite feedback, full participation, and respectful interactions
  • Enhance intra and inter-campus cohesiveness and capacity sharing
  • Provide opportunities which advance the image and professionalism of nurses and midwives

  • Advance and evaluate effectiveness of mentorship models

Outcomes

  • AKU-SONAM will be a people-centric, socially just, with gentler footprint in terms of exemplary resource stewardship for future sustainability for nursing and midwifery education programmes in low- and middle- income countries.
  • AKU-SONAM will enhance accessibility for and success of diverse students, particularly from underserved regions in South Asian and East African universities through comprehensive university programs.
