Was I engaged in the book
I got into the book immediately because I like dirt track racing and I have been going to the races almost my whole life. Being a person who goes to the races all the time, it kind of helped me understand what was going on in the book.
Book Structure
The book had an interesting structure. Every chapter was about a different character. One chapter would be about Trace and then the next would be about Beau. It made the book interesting.
Characters
Melody is 17 years old and she is the track manager of her father's racetrack. Everything that happens around the track, she takes it seriously. She has a lot of responsibility because her mom left her dad because of a racing accident.
Trace is also 17 years old. He likes to race but thinks he can do everything else with the car and that causes a lot of fights between him and his dad.
Beau is 16 years old and he is adopted. He is very motivated and will do whatever it takes to race.
Theme
The theme of this story is never give up. Melody had a lot of responsibility because of what happened with her mom and dad but she never gave up. She also had to take risks to keep the racetrack in business.
What would i ask the author
If I could ask the author a question, I would ask him what inspired him to write this book and why he wrote about dirt track racing.
