AMONG THE RANKS

After last week’s 26-6 road victory over the Monarchs of King’s College, the Aggies jumped up one spot to 14th in the D3football.com top 25 poll. In the first American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Coaches poll released this week, DelVal was slotted 11th. Entering the season, the Aggies were ranked 15th in the D3football.com preseason top 25.

2022 Defense

The best defense in the country in 2021, has allowed just 6.6 points per game through the first three weeks of 2022. The Aggies currently rank 5th in division III in total defense with 166.0 yards per game allowed. The unit has forced nine turnovers in three games with six recovered fumbles and three interceptions, and it has eight sacks. Opposing offenses are 6-for-39 (15.4%) on third down against DelVal. The veteran defensive line has been a brick wall against the run allowing just 48.3 rushing yards per game.

2022 Offense

The Aggies well balanced offensive produces 130.7 rushing yards per game and 119.3 yards per game through the air. They average 20.7 points through three games and have turned the ball over three times with one fumble lost and two interceptions. In last week's win over King's, half back Jay White, quarterback Louis Barrios, and sophomore wideout Luan Avdijaj all punched in short touchdown runs.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

  • Specialist Thamir Barksdale, the junior two time all-American handles punt return duties for the Aggies. Barksdale has 9 returns for 40 yards this season as he looks to add to his program record for career touchdown returns (4). Pat Moran has been steady as the team's punter with 34.95 yards per punt and a long of 55. He has punted 20 times this year and has pinned opponents inside their own 20 five times.

HEAD COACH DUKE GRECO '03

2021 marked Greco's eighth year at the helm of his alma mater's football program. He holds an astounding 73-12 record with postseason berths each year, including five NCAA appearances, two trips to the NCAA quarterfinals, four consecutive (2017-18-19-21) Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) championships, two Centennial-MAC Bowl Series championships, and two MAC Coach of the Year honors.

Last season, Greco became the programs all-time wins leader with his 67th victory, a 31-3 win over Lycoming on homecoming weekend.

Prior to becoming head coach, Greco had an 11-year stint as assistant coach with DelVal, including eight as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator.

GAME NOTES

  • The Aggies are 3-0 to start the season for the second year in a row, and the sixth time in the last 10 seasons.
  • DelVal is allowing just 6.7 points per game.

The Aggies are 7-0 all-time against the Cougars. In last years matchup, DelVal notched a shutout blanking Misericordia 35-0 on the road.

  • Leads the team in rushing with 219 yards and 73 yards per game.
  • His two rushing touchdowns mactch Barrios for the team-high.
  • Against Kings, White recorded 81 rushing yards while also snagging two catches and finding the end zone. He has a touchdown in each of the last two games.

Jones leads the Aggies with 23 tackles and two forced fumbles this season.

Led the Aggies with 11 total tackles in the defensive dominant 26-6 victory over the Monarchs.

DE, #7 Michael Nobile

Recorded half a sack last week to up his career total to 38.5. Nobile needs just one more sack to pass Kyle Gesswein ('10) as the program's all-time sack leader.

S, #6 BLAINE NETTERMAN

  • Last week at King's:
  • Four total tackles
  • One fumble recovery with a 76 yard return to give the Aggies a commanding 26-3 lead early in the 4th quarter.
