Definition of Feudalism:

the dominant social system in medieval Europe, in which the nobility held lands from the Crown in exchange for military service, and vassals were in turn tenants of the nobles, while the peasants (villeins or serfs) were obliged to live on their lord's land and give him homage, labor, and a share of the produce, notionally in exchange for military protection

Definition of Manor:

self-sufficient estate of a medieval lord

Who lived on the manor?

The king, noblemen (lords), knights, and serfs (peasants/servants)

How are the society groups interdependent?

All parts of the feudal triangle were dependent on all or one one the groups. All of the groups depended on each other for the three basic needs: food, land, and protection. The king gave noblemen, also know as lords, land. Then, the lords gave the land to knights and serfs. The knights fought and provided protection for the lords and the serfs. The serfs were the lowest class, they had no power. Their only job was to stay on their land and make food. There was no way of getting out of being a serf. The serfs gave their food to the knights and lords. Then, the lords provided the king with food and knights. In the end, everyone in the manor is working for the king.

How does the feudal system affects politics?

The feudal system affects politics in many ways. One, is that the feudal system is a monarchy. People do not vote on who they want their king to be. Ultimately, it is the Pope's and the king's family's decision on who the king will be. Another reason is that they had classes. All of the classes below the king had to work for him. Again, everything goes back to working for the king.

How does the feudal system affect social structure?

The feudal system affects social structure in many ways. The social structure is the arrangements of humans who live together in a society that interact and live together. Since the king gives the land to the lords, and lords divide the land out among serfs, social structure and classes are created. The serfs have to work for everyone above them and they have no power. The serfs can sometimes work together as a family. The overall arrangement of the feudal system is: highest power- king, middle- nobles and knights, lowest- serfs.

How does the feudal system affect economy?

The fuedal system affects the economy in many ways. The serfs do most of the work besides protection in the manor. This means the most of the income comes from the serfs' work, their food. Also, the lords get money from the knights so the knights can have their own land. The money is distributed all over the manor.
