On Friday May 12th and Saturday May 13th, the Mammoths competed at the NEICAAA Championships, often referred to as the Open New England Championships because schools from all three NCAA Divisions compete at the meet. Ellis Phillips-Gallucci broke the School Record in the 400 Hurdles, running a time of 52.31 seconds! Eliza Cardwell broke her own School Record in the 100 Hurdles, running a time of 14.13 seconds! And for the third time this season, the Men's 4x100 Relay of Ben Bell, Cody Pierce, Alex Nichols and Jordan Harrison broke their own School Record, running a time of 41.46 seconds! And Casie Eifrig is now 5th All-Time at Amherst in the 400, running a time of 57.84 seconds!

Decathlon
Alex Robin kicked off competition in the Decathlon on Friday in the 100, where he set a personal best with a time of 12.98 seconds! Next in the Long Jump, he set another personal best, jumping 5.73 meters (18' 9.75")! He continued the personal best streak in the Shot Put, setting a personal best with a throw of 10.16 meters (33' 4")! In the High Jump, he cleared 1.77 meters (5' 9.75") and he ended Day 1 in the 400, running a time of 56.58 seconds.
Alex resumed competition on Saturday morning in the 110 Hurdles, running a time of 18.18 seconds! Next in the Discus, he threw a personal best throw of 26.08 meters (85' 7")! The Pole Vault was a big event Alex, where he broke his personal best in the event, clearing 4.20 meters (13' 9.25") to win the Pole Vault! In the Javelin he threw 44.16 meters (144' 10") and concluded the two-day event in the 1500, where he ran a time of 5:12. With the points from each event added up, Alex placed seventh with a personal best score of 5,231 points!

100 Hurdles
The first School Record to fall during the weekend was the Women's 100 Hurdles, where Eliza Cardwell won her preliminary heat on Friday in a time of 14.13 seconds! Last weekend at the D3 New England Championships, Eliza ran a time of 14.20 seconds with a wind reading of 2.1 m/s, which doesn't count for record setting purposes as the wind reading must be less than 2.0 m/s. On Friday she ran her School Record time with a 0.3 m/s headwind! Arissa McGowan also advanced to Saturday's final, running the eighth fastest time in the prelims with a time of 14.78 seconds!

Jordan Harrison advanced to Saturday's 100 final by winning his preliminary heat in the 100 on Friday in a time of 10.84 seconds!

Casie Eifrig ran a stellar race in the 400, using a fantastic final 100 meters of the race to place 5th in her heat and 13th overall in a personal best time of 57.84 seconds! With this time, Casie is now 5th All-Time at Amherst in the event!

400 Hurdles
Ellis Phillips-Gallucci toed the line for the 400 Hurdles and got out to a strong start. In the final 100 meters of the race, he went from third to first place, picking off his competitors one by one and leaned at the line to win his heat in a time of 52.31 seconds! With his time, Ellis broke the School Record that had stood for 29 years!
In the Women's 400 Hurdles, Eliza Cardwell placed third overall in a time of 1:02.24, her second fastest time ever in the event!

High Jump
In the High Jump, Cam Heafitz cleared 1.90 meters (6' 2.75") on his third attempt to place 13th overall.
Hammer
Charlie Spurrell's second throw was his best of the day in the Hammer, with a throw of 51.92 meters (170' 4") which placed 19th overall.
Long Jump
Adrian Friedman placed 10th in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.84 meters (22' 5.25").
Pole Vault
Mia Bawendi cleared 3.45 meters (11' 3.75") in the Pole Vault, clearing the bar on her first attempt at the height!

5,000
The final events of the night were the 5,000 and 10,000 and Daphne Theiler represented the Mammoths in the Women's 5,000. Racing in warmer conditions, Daphne found herself working with another competitor for most of the race, caught in between the lead pack and a chase pack behind her. Daphne ran tough and crossed the finish line in 12th place in a time of 18:02!
Henry Dennen ran a strong race while running alone for a good portion of it. He started at a fast pace and closed hard, placing seventh in a time of 14:34!
10,000
Daniel Martin ran a fantastic race in the 10,000, latching on to a big pack where he clicked off consistent splits. Daniel looked smooth and relaxed and it showed in his race, crossing the finish line in a huge personal best time of 32:07 to place fourteenth! Daniel broke his previous personal best time by 39 seconds, a significant margin!

4x100 Relay
The first track event of the day on Saturday was the Men's 4x100 Relay and the Mammoths ran in the same order as they have all season. Ben Bell led off and got the Mammoths out to a great start and had a clean hand off to Cody Pierce. Cody ran well on the straightaway and passed the baton to Alex Nichols, and Alex ran a strong third leg and handed off to Jordan Harrison for the anchor leg, moving the Mammoths up to second place in their heat and crossed the line in a time of 41.46 seconds, a new School Record! This is the third time this season these men have broken the School Record in this event.
1,500
Julia Schor toed the line in the 1,500 and over the course of the first lap, Julia moved her way up in the race into third place. With less than two laps to go, Julia pushed the pace and pushed for the lead in the final lap, giving it her all through the finish line to place third in her heat a season best time of 4:37!
100 Hurdles
Eliza Cardwell and Arissa McGowan returned to the track for the 100 Hurdles final, ready to compete in a strong field. Eliza placed third in a time of 14.30 seconds and Arissa placed seventh in a time of 14.96 seconds!

Jordan Harrison returned to the track for the third time over the weekend to run the 100 final and he placed second in a time of 10.65 seconds!

Ben Davis competed next in the 800 and got out fast in his heat, pushing into third place over the course of the first lap. He made a push for the lead in the second lap and fought hard in the last 100 meters of the race, placing second in his heat and sixth overall in a huge personal best time of 1:52.60! Kolya Markov-Riss competed in the next heat of the 800 and got out at a fast pace in the first lap and moved up into the lead with 200 meters left in the race. He closed well and placed second in his heat and tenth overall in a season best time of 1:53.21!
Discus
David Brown competed in the Discus and threw well, with a best throw of 44.56 meters (146' 2") to place fourteenth!

The 4x400 Relays were the last events of the day, and Myeh Medina led off for the Mammoths, getting the Mammoths out to a nice start! She got the Mammoths into about seventh place and handed the baton to Casie Eifrig who ran a great relay leg and moved the Mammoths up to about sixth place! Casie passed the baton to Eliza Cardwell, who kept the Mammoths in sixth place, and handed off to Mads Rabb for the anchor leg. Mads brought the Mammoths across the line in 6th place in a season best time of 3:57!
Ellis Phillips-Gallucci led off the Men's 4x400 Relay, running a speedy opening leg and putting the Mammoths right with the leaders. Ellis handed off to Ben Davis, who immediately got the Mammoths in the lead! Ben extended the lead during his leg and handed off to Kolya Markov-Riss for the third leg. Kolya ran a speedy leg as well and further extended the lead and handed off to Cody Pierce for the anchor leg. Cody ran a fantastic anchor leg, extending the lead even further as Cody brought the Mammoths across the line in first place in their heat and fifth place overall in a season best time of 3:18!
