Spring Term Newsletter 2022 Ysgol Gatholig Mair Ddihalog

Croeso nôl/Welcome back

Welcome back to you all after what we hope was a relaxing break for you and your families. Even with the restrictions, from what the children have told me Santa managed to deliver all of his presents on time! I would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy new year.

We will continue to keep you updated about any further changes to school guidance via our usual channels.

The Welsh Government is exploring options around the structure of the school day and the school year. Parentkind and the Child Poverty Action Group have worked together to create a short survey for parents to give them the chance to share their views on reforming the school day and school year in Wales. They would appreciate if you could take part in the survey before 23rd of January.

On behalf of the staff at Mary Immaculate and myself, thank you for your messages of support and of thanks on the parent/carer feedback form. It is really useful to receive your feedback as it informs our future planning. As a result of this feedback, and the information that you provided last term around the vision of our school, you will see changes throughout the year as we move towards the Curriculum for Wales and what that means for Mary Immaculate.

We look forward to continuing to work with you to provide the best possible experiences for our pupils. Within this newsletter there are some updates, key dates and links to great resources.

We pray for those families who have been, and continue to be, affected by this terrible virus.

RELIGIOUS LIFE OF THE SCHOOL

As a Catholic School in the Diocese of Menevia, we have embraced the Catholic Schools’ Pupil Profile, which teaches the children a set of eight pairs of virtues to be understood and nurtured - enabling them to grow in wholeness as fully rounded individuals in the image of God. The pairs of virtues are:

  • Grateful and generous
  • Attentive and discerning
  • Compassionate and loving
  • Faith-filled and hopeful
  • Eloquent and truthful
  • Learned and wise
  • Curious and active
  • Intentional and prophetic

They will change every half-term; this half-term the virtues are 'Intentional & Prophetic'. The Department of Spiritual Life will have a part to play in the promotion of these values. This term's mission is below:
