Commonly asked Questions
- What session length do I need? For newborn, if you want the whole shebang, a full newborn session is the way to go. It includes family, sibling and multiple poses of baby alone. If you want something more simple with either family or sibling, plus poses of baby alone, a mini newborn may be more your speed. Wrapped mini newborn sessions are a great way to have simple, wrapped poses of baby-only. For older babies (3 months and up), young kiddos, families, sibling images, etc. a standard full session is a great way to include multiple groupings of people and backgrounds/backdrops, which means a larger variety. If you'd like to keep it short and sweet, I do offer mini sessions. Extended sessions are great for high school seniors wanting more than one location and/or several outfit changes OR extended families.
- Can I include my spouse/partner and/or children for my maternity session? YES! I encourage making this session a fun, family experience.
- Do you have dresses I can borrow for maternity sessions? Yes, and if you are interested in looking through and trying on gowns before your session, please let me know and we can set up a time.
- Am I allowed outfit changes during my session? Certainly - clothing changes can be a fun way to add variety to your session. With that being said, the more changes you make, the less time we will have to shoot. I do have a pop-up changing tent on hand for outdoor sessions, which makes outfit changes a breeze. For mini sessions, I recommend only a single clothing change (if any). For standard and maternity sessions 1-2 outfit changes are recommended, and extended sessions can include several outfit changes.
- Can we have some images where we are not looking at the camera? Of course! My *aim* is to start each pose with a traditional "look & smile", and then move to natural, casual interactions. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to get genuine smiles and fun interactions ;)
- Are Newborn Sessions safe? Absolutely - rest assured I have done both in-person and online training to ensure the safety of all session participants from start to finish.
- Do you have props and outfits? Yep! For newborn sessions, I have wraps, outfits, tiebacks/bows, bonnets, baskets, buckets, etc. you are welcome to use. I also have some outfits for older babies, and maternity gowns. For outdoor sessions, I always have a blanket and crate with me (for seating), but if there is something specific (outfit, prop), feel free to ask that I bring it!
- Can I bring my own props? I am open to using parent-provided props, but I ask that you give me a heads-up about what you are planning on bringing so I can ensure safety measures are in place.
- When should I schedule my session? Maternity sessions are scheduled between 31-35 weeks. Newborn sessions are scheduled approx. a week after your due date, and should you deliver more than a few days before or after your session, we can adjust the session date to aim to stay within the preferred two-week after birth window. You can reach out to schedule these sessions as early as your second trimester. For standard sessions, I would reach out to schedule a couple months in advance of your preferred session date. Jan-March are the slower months, but April-Dec tend to fill up quickly. *I do have kiddos playing sports, so I sometimes have to wait until their schedules come out before booking certain dates. Seasonal mini sessions will be announced on facebook and instagram, and links will be provided to pick your session date and time.
- Are your sessions all-inclusive, and when will I receive my images? I do include the print release to your images. Approximately 2-3 weeks after your session, you will receive a link to view your gallery. You will also receive the final invoice for the print release at that time. Once that is paid in full and you give me the approval of your images, I will generate a download link so you can save, print and share your images.
- My kid fell/ran into (insert object here) and has a bruise/cut on their face. Can you edit that? Typically, if the injury is small enough, I can edit it away. In some instances, it is best to reschedule your session to give them time to heal (especially when swelling or eye injuries are involved).
- We (anyone in your session) are sick. Now what? In this case, we HAVE to reschedule. I cannot take the risk of spreading germs, especially to the newborns. You (and any immediate family members) must be symptom free at least 48 hours before your session.
- What happens if we have an outdoor session scheduled and the weather is bad? In the case if inclement weather, your session will be rescheduled. If the weather is just "iffy", I aim to make that decision the night before if it is a morning session and by the afternoon the day of if it is an evening session.
- Have you worked with neurodivergent children before? Absolutely I have! If you feel that your child would benefit from a free, downloadable image of me, along with customizable text, to help them prepare for our time together, please let me know!
- How do I pay you? Once you have filled out the contract, I will send a retainer invoice to the email you provide. I will use that same e-mail address to send over the remaining balance once the images are ready to be delivered to you. **Please note, sessions will not be put on the schedule and images will not be released until invoices are paid in full.
- I have a pinterest board - do you copy image examples? I am happy to look at any images for inspiration. I do try to emulate what you love about an image, but it will likely not be an exact match.
- Do you offer payment plans and/or discounts? Yes to both! Payment plans can be set up on a schedule that works well with you, provided we have the time to split with all payments due before the session. I offer military, public servant and multiple booking discounts. For the multiple booking discount, all sessions must be scheduled at the same time.
- Can I bring my dog(s) to be in some pictures? Sure - provided that we pick a location that allows dogs. If you do bring your pup, please know that most places ONLY allow leashed pets. I also strongly urge you bring an extra person to hold on to your dog while we are shooting images that do not include your canine companion. **PLEASE give me a heads up if you plan to bring your pet so I can make sure the location allows dogs.
- How do I book? Click the link to the session type you'd like. Once I receive that, I'll reach out to send over the retainer and get you on the schedule! Maternity and Newborn Session Contract: http://bit.ly/2rtoszE or Standard Session Contract: http://bit.ly/2tp34d7
- Do you like your job? 100,000% YES! <3
