Introduction/Organization
My name is Macy and I'm a junior. This is my first time taking studio art and i'm excited to learn many new things in art class this year. The purpose of this portfolio is to show all of my work from the year and share it on here.
September Reflection
During September we did many different art projects. I developed skills while working on value studies where we practiced the different values for a drawing. We applied these skills in our value hands 1 and 2 where we first drew one hand and then we did another one with two hands holding something. I created original art this month by applying my own ideas to all of the projects.
October reflection
During October we did many different projects. I created original art with cross contour pumpkin by putting in my own ideas for the details around the pumpkin. I developed skills by creating the self portraits and applied all the uses of value and shading we have learned. I expanded my global awareness of art with watercolors. We learned many new skills and applied them all throughout the month of october.
November Reflection
Over the month of November we did many different projects and learned new skills. I developed skills while exploring pottery and creating a pinch pot and a tray. I expanded my global awareness of art by learning more about colored pencils and creating new drawings with different techniques with colored pencils. I created original art by creating a hand turkey and I collaborated and reflected with all of these by free drawing in my sketchbook during free time and when I finished my work early.
December/January Reflection
During the months of December and January we did many new projects. We developed skill building by experimenting with soft pastels and created an original art piece by putting all the skills we learned into a drawing with soft pastels. I expanded my global awareness of art with acrylic art paintings that we did by creating a disco ball. We collaborated and reflected on our color wheel and a practice disco ball to then create our final piece. During these months we learned many new skills and created new pieces of art.
January/february reflection
During the months of January and February we worked on many new projects in class. We developed skills while exploring dip pen skill building activities where we learned more about calligraphy. And then we created original art with our dip pen wow piece. I then expanded my global awareness of art with the one point perspective skill building activities, this was where we practiced creating a city, room and blocks. I then reflected on those practices and created my one point perspective wow piece. We learned many new skills with all of these projects.

March/April Reflection
During the months of March and April we did copper tooling and embroidery. I developed skills with embroidery and learned a new skill. We practiced with this and then created a final piece of our own. We also did copper tooling in which I created original art with this long process. We first practiced on the copper and then we created our own designs to add to another design we created.
Final Reflection and Retrospective
Throughout the year in Art I learned many new skills and terms of artistic behaviors. I feel as though I do understand artistic behaviors like creating original art, solving problems, expanding my global awareness of artwork and taking risks. I think I was able to demonstrate these skills within each project and update them in my portfolio throughout the year. The unit that I feel was my favorite was either my artist research project inspired piece or my copper tooling. I think those were two projects that I enjoyed and learned a lot from, and I'm proud of how they turned out. One unit I feel that I developed the most from was either the embroidery or the copper tooling again. With embroidery I learned how to sew and how to create my own art work with that skill and for copper tooling I had to do many different steps to create this piece of work. I definitely developed new art skills from this project. I am most proud of my pottery tray that I made during the year. I really liked how I added leaves to it to create a print and texture. It was a lot of fun to make and I really enjoyed creating it. Throughout the whole year i learned a lot of new skills and enjoyed this class a lot. I wouldn't change any aspect of the class, I feel it was great the way it was.
