About the MPMS Bands
The MPMS Bands consist of two festival bands, as well as three beginning band classes.
The sixth-grade beginning bands are combined with the seventh-grade band for tonight's performance, but actually meet as four separate classes during the school day. These classes focus on building fundamental technique on each instrument.
The eighth-grade band focuses on building musicianship through the study of repertoire. Seventh-grade students have the opportunity to participate in this ensemble by audition.
About the MPMS Choir
MPMS Choir consists of 6th-8th grade students. The class focuses on both individual development as a singer as well as working as a team to create beautiful harmonies. Students of any grade level and any experience level are welcome and encouraged to join.
About the MPMS Orchestras
The MPMS Orchestras consist of two ensembles, beginning strings, and intermediate orchestra. Both ensembles are open to students in any grade and at all levels of musical development.
Our beginning strings class is open to all sixth-grade students at Mt. Pleasant Middle School, and is a great way to begin your orchestra career! In this class, we develop the fundamental skills to engage in a life-long relationship with our instrument.
The Intermediate Orchestra offers Mt. Pleasant Middle School students to pursue more advanced instrumental music instruction. We perform four concerts each year, participate in Solo and Ensemble, and even have the opportunity to travel. Enrollment is open to all seventh and eighth-grade students and to experienced sixth-grade students by audition.
