Minimum Candidate Experience

A minimally qualified AEM as a Cloud Service Architect typically has the following work experience:

  • Hold a current certification as an AEM Sites Architect
  • Manage AEM deployments with a minimum of 2-3 years of web and content centric application development experience.
  • Ability to design, configure, and deploy an AEM application in multiple modes (author, publisher) along with optimal dispatcher configurations.
  • Analyze business requirements and follow best practices to produce an executable solution.
  • Provide advise and participate in all phases of an AEM project

Exam Objectives and Scope

Section 1: Architecture and Design (23%)

You should be able to define performance KPIs for applications and migrate to AEM as a Cloud Service from AMS, On-Premise, or other 3rd Party content management systems. You should know how to utilize the Cloud Manager credits to create a sandbox or playground environment. You should be able to describe a target architecture for implementation; and, based on customer requirements, determine an AEM architecture.

Section 2: Configuration and Deployment (21%)

You should be able to implement code as defined by code quality rules, and refactor existing projects for AEM as a Cloud Service. You should be able to deploy and manage custom index definitions, and manage production and non-production environments. You should be able to explain the role of local development.

Section 3: System Maintenance (5%)

You should be able to setup IMS security and identify which maintenance tasks can be configured for AEM as a Cloud Service.

Section 4: Discovery (8%)

You should be able to translate high-level business goals to functional requirements, assess the current state of an architecture, and determine non-functional technical requirements for solution design

Section 5: Solution Design (23%)

Given business requirements, you should be able to design a detailed architecture and solution, determine appropriate security solutions for a design, incorporate integration requirements into a solution design, determine which types of performance and testing requirements should be included in a solution, apply procedural concepts for designing scalable and resilient architecture, and recommend migration strategies.

Section 6: Implementation (10%)

You should be able to identify and resolve design issues revealed during implementation stage, recommend implementation approaches based on requirements, determine appropriate methods to use to prototype solutions for proof of concepts, and diagnose and resolve issues encountered during implementation.

Section 7: Maintenance (10%)

You should be able to diagnose and resolve issues encountered in production environment, plan for the use of new features and upgrades, and optimize solution for non-functional requirements.

You are not required to complete training before taking the exam, and training alone will not provide you with the knowledge and skills required to pass the exam. A combination of training and successful on-the-job experience are critical to providing you with the repository needed to pass the exam.
