The first weekend of Prairie Days at Pacific Rim Institute in Coupeville, WA was a well attended and successful event. With tours of the prairie, a native plant sale, and other special events throughout the weekend there was something for everyone who joined in the fun.
Another very popular event at Prairie Days was the barn owl walk which featured the privilege of seeing baby owls in their nest. About 20 people took turns greeting and photographing these incredible little animals who will grow up to be fierce predators on the prairie.
This author, local photographer David Stern, led two photo walks as a part of Prairie Days. Joined by fellow photographers, who tend to be a solitary bunch, we walked the prairie in search of artistic inspiration. Once again the prairie delivered and everyone was able to capture some beauty and had some fun.
If you missed Prairie Days last weekend don't despair. It is happening again May 12-13 with another amazing schedule of free and family friendly events. Please visit www.PacificRimInstitute.com for the full schedule of events.
