This week has seen more fantastic things happen in school. We started the week off discussing the importance of sun care (I can only apologies for making the sun disappear!), Slip, Slop, Slap - Slip on a T-Shirt that covers your shoulders, Slop on your sun cream and Slap on a fully brimmed sun hat. Sunglasses and Shade are important as well.

School life
This week has been another busy week in school - there have been some improvements/developments to the school site, we had a fantastic assembly from NED on growth mindset and finished the week off with a great afternoon of Art and celebration.

OPAL
Thank you for all your donations this week. We continue to build up our areas and Loose Parts, ready to launch the loose parts next week.
You may have also seen a digger on site - this will hopefully all be completed by early next week and we are all very excited.
If anyone has any spare spades at home that you no longer need, it would be great if these could be donated as we start our digging area next week as well.
Golden Welly Award
This week sees the start of the Golden Welly Awards. There will be a winner of the welly in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 every week. The play team in school will be looking for children who are collaborative, curious, helpful, explorative, adventurous, creative, playing champions.
A big well done to this weeks winners - ALL the children!
TRANSITION WEEK
As we constanlty look at how we can improve all elements of school, we are looking at transition for all year groups.
This year, in the last week of term (12th July), all children will 'move up' to their new classroom, teacher and routines, for the majority of the week. This will help children prepare for September and give them a week to find out about what they will be learning about, get to know the class teacher, as well as new routines. We are more than aware that children have had a 'bumpy' 18 months and hope this will help settle any anxieties of the Summer holidays.
SPORTS WEEK
National Sport Week is from the 19th June to the 25th June, and our sports day we will be taking part in next Friday afternoon. We will make sure to place lots of pictures on the Twitter and Facebook page, as unfortunately, the guidance and rules have not changed around group gatherings, we will once again have to do this behind closed doors.
You can have a go with these at home as well.
Teaching staff for 2021-22
I'm pleased to share with you the class teachers for next academic year. I am pleased to welcome Miss O'Callaghan and Miss Sayer, who will be joining the teaching team at Galley Hill. Miss Sayer will be covering Miss Watson's class whilst she is on Maternity leave, we are very pleased for Miss Watson. This will ensure that there are two class teachers in September, helping with the transition and Miss Watson will be joining us back towards the end of the academic year. Miss Sayer will be in Year 5 for the whole academic Year. Miss O'Callaghan will also be joining Miss Bell next year as all of the Year 2 children come back together, again to ease their transition into KS2 after the past 18 months. Thank you to all the parents who attended one of the Zoom meetings to discuss the year groups that have a slightly different arrangement for next year.
