Tuna mornay has been a classic meal within our household for years and we typically have it for either lunch or dinner. There are a couple of options you can pair this dish with. However, mash potato has always been a favourite of mine to have with tuna mornay.
Tuna mornay Ingredients:
- 425g of tuna
- 40g of butter
- 1 cup of flour
- 1.5 cups of milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of mustard
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1/2 cup of grated cheese
- Pepper
- Salt
Tuna mornay method:
- Add the onion and butter to a bowl and microwave for 1 minute.
- Add flour and cook in microwave for additional 1 minute.
- Add mustard, pepper, salt and milk to bowl and cook in microwave for 1.5 minutes. Then give the mixture a stir. Then cook for additional 1.5 minutes.
- Add tuna and mix through the mixture.
- Pour into a baking dish.
- Add bread crumbs and grated cheese on top.
- Cook for 5 minutes in the oven (180 degrees celsius).
- To ensure mixture is of a IDDSI level 6 standard, scoop tuna mornay out of baking tin into a bowl and give a thorough stir.
- Add this to the top of the mash sweet potato prepared separately. Make sure you use the fork press test to ensure that the meal is of a level 6 consistency.
