GRASSROOTZ A Vision incubator for BIPOC nonprofit & Business owners

DIG, REPAIR, SEED, TAKE ROOT, AND THRIVE

A collaborative led by BIPOC Grassrootz organizations in Baltimore City for the purpose of uplifting and supporting the healing, growth and success of other BIPOC and BIPOC-led Grassrootz organizations.

Members will connect with each other to form collective partnerships and gain capacity building support for their businesses, nonprofits and community programs. Grassrootz will be a physical kid and family friendly location that will support the activities outlined below.

THE VISION ROOM

MIND

Members will be able to participate in Mindset Courses, support groups/mentoring circles and transformational instruction and activities led by BIPOC Professionals from the community.

BODY

Trauma is stored in our body. Our bodies hold hundreds of years of pain and trauma caused by racism and racial injustices we and our ancestors have had to endure. Members will have access to Plant Medicines, Spa Services, fitness classes, yoga, Zumba and more to heal the body .

Members will also have access to healthy vegetarian, pescatarian and vegan food and drink options provided by local BIPOC Businesses and Herbalists.

SPIRIT

Members will be able to participate in Individual and Group Meditations and get support in reconnecting with nature via astrology, Herbalism, Reiki and crystal classes and will be able to express themselves through Art and Music and other types of artistic expression facilitated by community Arts Instructors and Programs.

ALIGNED AND MANIFESTING

Those members that want to launch and grow their nonprofit or for-profit endeavors will have access to planning and conference rooms, capacity building support, staff sharing and the ability to be paired with a BIPOC Nonprofit or Business Elder that can help guide them through launching and growing their endeavor.

REBUILDING COMMUNITY FROM THE INSIDE OUT THROUGH:

Legacy Building - supporting intergenerational wealth and healing

Infrastructure Building- building systems to make sure information centering black genius is being collected and shared

Building a strong network for people of color- To shift the center of gravity where the community is leading and foundations are partners but, not paternalistic.

Exploring sustainable ways to generate income and revenue- participatory community wealth building.

Reimagining fiscal sponsorship- helping to build capacity and impact with a focus on collaboration and partnerships.

Building programming-that is supportive of repairing and nourishing family connections.

Social Impact

Shifting Power to BIPOC GrassRootz Organizations so they can heal the community and thrive by their standards. GrassRootz will be a gathering place that will embrace and nurture those who have been robbed of their ideas and manipulated for their brilliance by racially biased systems and ideals.

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

For BIPOC-LED Organizations

VISIONARIES OF COLOR NONPROFIT SUMMITS: A productive space (virtual and in-person) where people of color can learn, network, and dream bigger for their non-profit organization. Nonprofit Elders and experts will guide you through the non-profit building process, funding, and more.

Many Nonprofit Visionaries of color start organizations to address an issue(s) that has personally affected them or their communities. Unfortunately in the midst of the trauma that ignited the idea paired with inexperience it can become difficult to present the organization to potential funders and the community in a way that will gain credibility.

First we must invest in healing, create a structure for success, and build the organization to last.

MONTHLY COMMUNITY ROUND TABLES discussing topics that affect the community and exploring partnerships with other BIPOC Led organizations.

MONTHLY VIRTUAL AND SOCIALLY DISTANT COMPLIANT EVENTS (MIND, BODY, SPIRIT - LED BY BIPOC BUSINESSES/NONPROFITS)

BIPOC-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS

NEW ROOTS TRAININGS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: These trainings on Racial Equity & Inclusion will provide a cultural, holistic, and educational experience to equip White-Led (Non-BIPOC) and BIPOC Led organizations with information and tools they can leverage to begin and further the work of strategic equity, inclusion within their organizations.

The purpose is to meet individuals working in BIPOC-serving organizations where they are, regardless of ethnicity, in learning how racial inequity manifests within their organizations, while examining their role in its perpetuation. White Supremacy ideals are embedded in every institution and system in our country, which means we are all responsible, in one way or another, for causing harm to BIPOC Communities, knowingly or unknowingly.
