Part 1: Engagement

1. With your peers at your table, explore the Adobe Education Exchange below and look at lesson plans that would be appropriate for your students.

2. Pick a lesson that works for you and your students.

3. Some questions to ask yourself and others at this station about the lesson and its support of UDL.

  • How does Adobe Express provide my students choice and autonomy? (Guideline 7.1)
  • What lessons in EdEx optimize relevance and authenticity? (Guideline 7.2)
  • How does the lesson foster collaboration and community? (Guideline 8.3)
  • How can I build in self-assessment and reflection into this lesson? (Guideline 9.3)

4. Share the lesson you found on the Padlet below and how you think your remix of it can support UDL in your classroom.

Station 2: Representation

  1. Take some time to poke around Adobe Express. Try creating a graphic, webpage, and/or video.

2. What features do you find that support the UDL Framework? Some questions to ask yourself:

  • How does Express provide alternatives to options for perception? (Guideline 1)
  • Are their options for vocabulary and symbols? (Guideline 2.1)
  • How can Express promote understanding across languages? (Guideline 2.4)
  • How does it allow studens to illustratie ideas through multiple forms of media? (Guideline 2.5)
  • How could I use Express to activate student background knowledge? (Guideline 3.1)
  • How could I use Express to have students see patterns or relationships in ideas? (Guideline 3.2)
  • How can I have students use Express to visualize information? (Guideline 3.3)

3. On the Padlet linked below, share your thoughts about the representation options that Express provides. What is there? What is missing you would wish to see?

4. Explore Adobe Color Accessibility tools to consider how they can help you support students with visual impairments.

Station 3: Action and Expression

We will think about and explore these topics here:

  • How does Express allow for choice in expression? (Guideline 5.1)
  • How does Express provide multiple tools for composition? (Guideline 5.2)
  • How can you use Express to guide student goal-setting? (Guidelines 6.1)
  • How can you use Express to help student monitor their progress on their goals? (Guideline 6.4)
