Week 6 - Term 2b Some sun, forest School and an Easter Tree.

A different Forest School route this week. We were excited as we found tadpole sin the small pond. Saw two Kites soaring above the woods. We counted the rings on the trees that had been cut down after the storms. We were surprised at how old the trees were, most of them were at least 30 years old.
Yohannes and Wiktor read the babies a story about rainy days. Yohannes really applied his phonics and read many words that are familiar as well as having a really good go at unfamiliar ones as well.
Jenson has a real flair for using technology. He is intrigued with old and new pieces. He made a radio with batteries, volume controls and spaces for headphones.
Using and applying their understanding in maths, creating number bond hats. Scarlet and Brooke identified different sounds in the displays and wrote them down, sounding out as they worked.
Reinforcing number bonds within 10. We had to make sure the bucket balance was level and in the middle. We then knew that we had the same amount made in different ways. It was a really good way to use and apply our bonds to 5 and 10.
We listened to a version of the Easter story. We talked about different celebrations and and different places to worship. We thought about symbols for Easter and the colours of Spring and designed an Easter decoration.
