Reimagining the Future Sustainability Festival in Swavesey 25-26th June 2022

A free event in and around Swavesey in Cambridgeshire. All are welcome! Check out the our activities and festival map here below!

Here's a list of what's on, where, and when:

1. Hale Road Allotments:

Sunday 2-4pm: Meet the Bees! With talk and demo at 3pm. Experience the incredible life of bees close up, and learn about their fascinating world.

Sunday starting at 2.30pm and 3.30pm: Allotment Tours. Try your hand at growing your own food, have a tour with the experts, and help decide the winner of the 10th anniversary scarecrow competition.

2. Constable’s Rood:

Sunday 2pm: ‘Hedgerow Histories’. A talk on the enclosures by local historian Carol Pook - learn how hedgerows have literally shaped our history.

3. St Andrew’s Church:

Saturday 1-3pm: Bug Hotels! Support biodiversity in the churchyard by helping create bug hotels, and enjoy some refreshments.

4. Hempsall Farm Meadow Rd, Willingham, CB24 5JL:

Saturday and Sunday 10-1pm: Come and meet the friendly rescued farm animals at this beautiful vegan glamping farm. Families can enjoy the playground set in the lovely allotment/ garden, and try some delicious vegan food in the converted double-decker cafe.

5. Swavesey Community Orchard:

Saturday and Sunday 10-4pm Mini Pond dipping! A fun way for children (and adults) to explore local aquatic habitats, with the help of local biologist and wildlife experts.

Saturday and Sunday 1-3pm: Join our local soil scientists in the Great Swavesey Soil Pit! Learn about how our soil was formed, and how our lives depend on soil.

Saturday and Sunday 10-1pm: Get down and dirty with nature, with our muddy outdoor explorers (children’s play activity, old clothing recommended).

6. Swavesey Memorial Hall:

Saturday 10-1pm: Repair Cafe. Bring along your broken items, be it a kettle, torn jeans or a bicycle. Our repairers will try their best to give it a new lease of life. Tea and cake will be for sale. We welcome electronic devices, wooden items, jewellery, bicycles, pottery, knives/scissors/tools for sharpening, clothing (bring old loved fabric to be up-cycled into bags, or onto clothing) and soft toys for some TLC! Please book your item in advance at: rvollerthun@gmail.com. Let us know what your item is and what the problem is (if you know). Bookings will take priority but you are welcome to turn up on the day and wait to be seen.

Saturday and Sunday 10-12: Clothing Swap! Bring along your unwanted clothes (Please, only clean and in good condition) and swap them for something new and fabulous! Saturday for women’s and teen’s clothing, Sunday for children’s.

Saturday 10-1: Time Banking. Find out about the possibilities of this amazing local resource.

Sunday 10-1: The Great Reimagining Workshop! Children’s art activity: inspired by the weekend’s events, you are invited to build your ideal (tabletop) community, using a glorious selection of recycled materials. Let your imaginations go wild!

Sunday 10-1: Sustainability Fair Browse the stalls, including: Cheap home energy saving, Freya’s Refills, Community Catalysts - caring as your business, Save the hedgehogs, and more.

Rosegate Farm Saturday 10-12: Explore the farm with our ecological treasure map (and buy some pick your own strawberries along the way).
