Lee Cooksey - Defender
Long serving defender or midfielder who re-joined Club in the summer of 2018 for the fourth time. Has also spent time with Rainworth MW and Belper Town amongst others, having had a two-year spell in Australia.
Martin Dewberry – Goalkeeper
Experienced keeper who joins Sheffield from CMFL outfit Cromford and Wirksworth Town, having spent time at Matlock Town. Helped the SFC Reserves lift the League title in 2021 with a string of solid performances.
Jacque Etia – Forward
Cameroonian centre-forward Jacques is a pocket battleship of a striker, with pace and strength to match any bigger opponent. Formerly of Rotherham United, Etia progressed to Club’s First Team after starring in Sheffield FC Reserves title winning campaign of 2021.
Jacob Fenton – Forward
Former Lincoln City player Fenton joined Club in August 2021 from Boston Town. The youngster came through the youth ranks at Sleaford Town before switching to Gainsborough Trinity. He has also played in the United Counties League for Sleaford and in the Northern Counties East League for Skegness Town.
Ben Harriott – Defender
Another player that has progressed from the Sheffield FC Reserves outfit, a lanky, yet agile and skillful defender who gives composure at the back despite his youth. Started out with Sheffield United before being snapped up by Club’s development and reserve management.
Jonathan Hedge - Goalkeeper
Well-travelled and experienced keeper and well-respected goalkeeping coach. Hedgie started at Rawmarsh St Joseph’s JFC before moving to Rotherham United, Halifax Town, Harrogate Town, Tamworth, Cambridge United, Grimsby Town, Telford and representing England ‘C’ as well as Brisbane Roar and Michelton in Australia.
Damian Magee - Defender
‘Damo – the Newbold Maldini’ - has been at Sheffield Club for several seasons. Centre half or left back Magee is a steady and experienced player. A leader and gives his all to the team.
Marc Newsham - Forward
Former Rotherham United, Boston United and Matlock Town striker returns to The Club 13 years after making appearances on loan whilst on professional terms with the Millers. Marc scored 110 goals in 209 appearances for Boston United before joining NPL Premier Division Matlock Town three seasons ago.
Cody Prior - Midfielder
Cody signed permanently from Doncaster Rovers in January after spending two periods on loan, he can operate in both defence and midfield, and captained both the youth team and the development squad last season. Has also spent time on loan at both Nuneaton Borough and Frickley Athletic.
Matt Roney - Midfielder
The on-field ‘Mr. Sheffield FC’ if ever there is one, having served the World’s First Football Club in nearly 500 appearances, since joining Club as a fresh-faced youngster from local rivals Hallam FC. Still able to turn a game and has been known to chip in with the odd goal now and again.
Louis Thwaites - Midfielder
An academy product of his hometown club Doncaster Rovers, Louis had spells at Thorne Colliery and Rossington Main before joining Sheffield’s newly re-formed Reserve team in ‘19/20.
Ben Turner - Defender
Chesterfield-born defender who returns to the World’s First after leaving in 2014 after previously being involved with Matlock Town, Goole and Belper Town. Highly dependable at right-back, comfortable at both defending and on the overlap. Newest member of the 200 Club.
Leigh Whelan – Defender
Young Wexford born Whelan joined Club from neighbours Chesterfield FC, where he has been an integral part of the Spireites youth set up. His previous clubs include Cavinteely, Shelbourne and Bree United, where he amassed two and a half years of senior League of Ireland football.
Alex Wonham - Forward
Al is an exciting prospect at just 19 years old, having had spells with Retford United and Lincoln City’s Development teams, he joins Sheffield FC via the SFC Maltby Academy Scholarship. Quick off the mark, a poacher’s eye, and a willingness to learn makes him one to watch at this level and beyond.
Jamie Yates - Midfielder
Jamie is a lively, tricky winger whose former clubs include Rotherham United, Boston United, Gainsborough Trinity and Matlock Town. Jamie can play on either wing and worked his way through the Rotherham United youth setup before playing 34 league games for the club.
