Content Info For The Week
Math (Swindell, Beasley, and Meeks):
Students will continue their exploration of the Pythagorean Theorem. Students will continue practicing with the equations through Wednesday. On Wednesday, students will have a quiz over the Pythagorean Theorem. Thursday and Friday students will learn about finding distance in the coordinate system using Pythagorean Theorem.
Algebra I (Meeks):
Students will wrap up polynomial operations this week. We will quiz over polynomial operations toward the end of the week. After we complete polynomial operations, we will move into unit conversions using unit rate.
ELA (Styron and Bright):
This week scholars will analyze what is clearly stated in the text and infer what is not clearly stated, analyze the impact of a specific word choice on the textβs meaning and tone, and finally use active reading, viewing, and listening as they continue working through their individualized and differentiated app segments and continue reading their selected novels.
ELA (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue their analysis of The Tell-Tale Heart. We will examine whether the narrator is reliable or unreliable, and what evidence we have to support our reasoning. Students will begin preparing to write their argumentative essay, so we will be working on implementing the components of an argument
9th Grade Lit (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue preparing to read our in-class novel To Kill A Mockingbird. We will be looking at a few short texts this week to help build context for the novel; these will include Blues Ain't No Mockin' Bird for exposure to voice and dialect, and two different texts over the Kennedy assassination to help us understand how authors can choose to present historical events.
Science (Carver and Lewis):
Students will be reviewing for their Unit 2 test over matter. Students will be testing on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will be used for grade improvement.
Social Studies (MacArthur and Lewis):
This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will begin theor General Assembly Simulation. Students will be assigned to either the senate, or the house, and will begin writing their own bill in a committee. Students will hold elections, review their bills with peers, and have the ability to vote on their bills on Friday before the break.
