Rylstone Review Term 4 Week 6, 17th November 2022

From the Principal’s desk

Captains Speeches

I was so pleased with our 2023 candidates for Captains speeches. I was very proud of the quality of leader we have at Rylstone Public School. Congratulations to everyone and good luck. Successful candidates will be announced on Presentation evening 13th December.

StreetFeast

Thank you to everyone who attended street feast. Thank you to Mrs Fielder for organising a brilliant choir performance. The children sang beautifully. Thank you also for those students and P&C members who helped with setting up and the wash up stand.

Remembrance Day

Thank you to the school captains Nic and Riley and Mrs Mulvaney for organising a special Remembrance Day assembly. Our school's artworks are on display in the shopfront windows in Angus Avenue. Please stop by to enjoy the work created by local students. The display, organised by Kandos RSL Sub Branch, is up for another couple of weeks.

Learn to Swim

Thank you to Mrs Rankin for organising our Learn to Swim program. Despite the current cold weather, everyone seems to be having a fabulous time.

Before & After School Care - Finally Here!

After many delays, we can now confirm that Rylstone Public School will finally welcome Big Childcare's Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program to our school. See the information below in the community news section, or download a parent information pack from the Portal Document's section in Sentral.

Around the Classrooms

Pacific Ocean with Mrs Rankin & Mrs Fielder

The Pacific Ocean has been busy getting ready for the end of the year. We have been doing lots of testing to see how far we have progressed.

During fitness we have been busy learning our dance for the end of year concert. We’re very excited to be able to, once again, have this wonderful event at Rylstone Memorial Hall. This is all we’re allowed to show you at the moment.

Most of our costumes are ready but it would be a good idea to check your child’s bag as some parents have been sent a note asking for one or two small things. We will send out reminders on DOJO if need be.

Indian Ocean with Mrs Mulvaney

Recently, students in the Indian Ocean have become the class teachers! Each group researched and prepared a lesson on a safety topic that helps promote and maintain health, safety and wellbeing. We’ve learned about road safety, healthy eating, safe drug use, water safety, cyber safety and emergency procedures so far. We have one group to go - our physical activity group. It’s been a blast!

Rylstone Rockets with Mrs Fielder

We have had a wonderful seven weeks with our Rylstone Rockets. After much counting down, our Rockets are ready for take off! We can’t wait to see them in Kindergarten next year!

Here’s a look at some of the adventures we had.

SRC News

Market Day is coming up on Thursday 15th December! Students will be able to hire a table for $2 and organise their stall, which can be done as a team or individually. They can run a pay-per-turn activity, sell treats, crafts or pre-loved goods. Any profits made at the stall will be theirs to keep!

Sentral

Our parents have been amazing and embraced all the new functionalities of the Sentral app. We hope it is making your life a little easier and more organised. The P&C have asked if it was possible to send a note out for the Presentation Night Supper via Sentral and, of course, the answer was YES! So please keep your eye out for the link to this digital form, which will be emailed to parents as well as being accessible from a number of other places: Sentral Newsfeed, both school and P&C Facebook.

Currently, you can use Sentral to:

  • view and respond to student absences
  • book your Parent Teacher interview when a session is run
  • view the Calendar to keep up to date with activities that are taking place
  • provide permission for excursions or other activities
  • find the link to newsletters - now appearing on the home page under 'Newsletters' and also in the Newsfeed
  • we are using portal messages to inform parents of Sick Bay incidents - particularly for head injuries
  • use the Links tab to access quick links to the P&C's Uniform Shop, the online payment portal and Learning from Home resources for parents

In 2023, new functionality will include:

  • Payment - parents will be able to make & track payments made for excursions etc
  • Forms - digital forms will be made available for many of our general permissions and for updating any changes to contact information

P&C News

The end of year concert and presentation night is fast approaching and the P and C will once again be providing catering on the night.

As COVID infections are on the rise again however, we ask that families do not bring a plate to share as we have done in the past. This year the P and C will be providing all Rylstone Primary School students with a sandwich and drink, while attendees will have the option to purchase a pulled pork or beef roll with coleslaw at a cost of $8 each.

Tea and coffee will be complimentary, and there will also be cold drinks and snacks available to purchase on the night. Rolls will need to be pre-ordered prior to the event for catering purposes. A digital form has been created and can be completed by going to the following link: P&C Presentation Night Supper Order Form

Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop is open every Friday during term from 9am – 9.30am. Uniform purchases can also be made online at https://rylstone-public-school-parents-and-citizens-association.square.site/ and these orders are sent home with your child on Fridays. Afterpay now available!

Next Meeting

  • Date: 28th November
  • Time: 3.30pm
  • In the School Hall

All welcome!
