How to use afterlight Tutorial
Hi everyone! Welcome to my tutorial on how to use a popular, quick and easy editing application for photographical images. I use this on a daily basis and find it one of the best.
Firstly, you will need to download the application which is available to you in your App Store. This shouldn't take long depending on how fast your internet is. As shown below, download the app which says 'afterlight'.
Once you have successfully downloaded the application, and opened it you will be presented with this screen. Follow the options below.
Once you have clicked on which one is applicable to you, click 'use' presented in the bottom right hand corner.
You are now ready to begin!
This photograph is the lovely scenic view of Mount Snowdon, which I will use during this tutorial.
As shown in the screenshot above, this is the next screen which will be available to you. These are all of the different tools you will need to create the perfect image.
Lots of adjustment tools are offered to you within afterlight to allow you to make alterations to your photograph. An example is shown below.
This sliding bar enables you to change the clarity of your photograph. Decide which space on the bar is best for you and your picture and then click the tick box to confirm.
The 'clarify' option isn't the only effect you can change. Follow the same process for each effect as demonstrated above. Here are the other effects you can alter.
Each of these adjustment tools can significantly allow you to change your picture to the way you want it. For example, making the picture brighter, emphasising the sky or a specific area of the photograph you particular like. Sometimes not all of them are necessary, if this is the case just use the ones which are needed.
This is my edited image complete. As you can see the photograph is much brighter than before, the shadow from the first image is less obvious and instead you are drawn to the brighter mountain and sky. The edited image I feel is much more eye catching. What do you think?
Afterlight also offers a wide range of filters. Most of these are available once you have downloaded the application, others require additional fees. These filters automatically change the image, so without making any adjustments yourself you can just choose a filter which best suits your requirements. To choose a filter click on the coloured icon as shown below.
Have a browse of these filters, see which one you like best! Here is an example below of how these work.
By selecting the 'guest' option of filters it has made lots of different effects available to me just in that one folder. By clicking on the 'KUS' icon, it has turned my photo much darker, changing the time of day the photo looks like it was taken. Without making adjustments too any other effect it has been done automatically. This is a much quicker process if you just want to change your image nice and fast!
Also available to you is cropping, rotation, flipped image etc. You can find these by clicking on the icon shown below.
Cropping the image allows you to adjust what you would like in the photograph and get rid of anything you don't want.
Rotating the image allows you to change the direction of the image.
Flipping the image allows you to change how you look the photograph.
You can also zoom in on the image, allowing the image to be presented on a different angle also.
Additionally, you can also put a border around your image. Although you have the option to use original borders, afterlight uniquely has extra, much more fascinating borders. Show below is how you can access these border options, and an example of what you could use.
As you can see afterlight is an photo editing app which has many different features. There vast range of adjustment tools, filters and borders ensures that you can successfully create the image you desire!
I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial, if you would like to find out how to access instructions on the actual application you can just click on the icon shown below. Good luck and happy photo editing!
