Violette Tocqueville aka TOLVY, 19 years old, is the new hope of French electronic music. She is much inspired by artists like Petit Biscuit, Madeon, The Avener, or even Gesaffelstein. TOLVY is a typical artist of her generation : precocious and committed, her creativity is really astonishing. Born on the 18th of January 2002, she shows some musical skills early on. At the age of 4, she is already taking drumming lessons, just before joining a class of piano jazz at 7. Nevertheless, it’s at 8 that she finally discovers electronic music with the classic ‘Pop Culture” by Madeon. Her parents eventually gave her her first launchpad as a Christmas present. From that day on, Tolvy started to learn all about CAM by herself.
She composed her first track at 14, and couldn't stop creating since then. She released her first self-producted EP, “Evolution”, in 2019. During the first lockdown she started to create her second EP that came out on June 2021 with her editor Duchess Publishing.
TOLVY is currently working on the release of his next EP (scheduled for fall 2022), the beginnings of which were composed during his October 2021 residency at Studio Wisseloord (Hilversum, Netherlands), in partnership with the CNM. The Rouen artist is currently on tour, performing at Rendez-Vous-Soniques (Saint-Lô, DJ Set), Le Spot Club with "La Fine Equipe" (Rouen, DJ Set) ; at the Ninkasi Gerland with "Graviity" (Lyon, DJ Set) and at the Ouest Park Festival (Le Havre, Live) with Vladimir Cauchemar. TOLVY is also on display live by Michaël Canitrot during his Monumental Tour concert at the Château de Pierrefonds in Paris, in partnership with the CNM.
TOLVY is also involved in cultural action projects, aimed at young audiences with deafness or motor disabilities. It animates these activities thanks to Subpac M2 vibrating vests that allow its users to feel the musical frequencies in a bodily way.
