As mentioned in the lecture there have been numerous changes and trends over the years within the sports industry. Most have been positive and have helped the industry to grow, however some changes have been detrimental to the industry.
As a manager within the sports industry, it is their responsibility to manage changes within the industry effectively and minimise any threats, whilst maximising opportunities.
You are to image that you currently work as a duty manager for local authority leisure centre. The scenario is that the centre has been affected currently by the level of completion within the local area. There have been a dramatic increase recently in the number of sport and leisure facilities in the local area, and this has had a dramatic affect on the number of people taking memberships.
You are to think about the possible strategies for overcoming this threat to the business, creating a strategy that will help to maintain memberships or increase them.
You should decide:
- what would you do and why?
- who would you target?
- How would you achieve this?
- How would you monitor the success of this?
You are to put your ideas onto the Padlet titled 'managing current issues' which can be found in the learzone page within session 8.
