CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS

The next regular City Council meeting is Tuesday, September 6, 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube, ConnectwithTC.

YOUTH COMMITTEE

City Council will affirm the appointment of the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Youth Committee members at their regular meeting on September 6. The Youth Committee’s regular monthly meetings will resume in September or October 2022.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT

The Community Development Department has released its Monthly Report for July 2022. Building construction activity continued to be up significantly from the previous year. Building permit valuation saw a 35% increase from July 2021 to July 2022. The number of permits issued in July 2022 increased by 75%. Total fees paid were $12,000 higher than last year. Most of the significant permits issued were accessory dwelling units (ADUs). However, there were also some new two-story houses, and tenant improvements for a bank and a new doctor’s office.

Planning received ten new applications in July 2022. Seven cases were for ADUs and one was for a façade improvement to the shopping center at 9441 Las Tunas Drive (corner Las Tunas Drive and Oak Avenue). There were also a couple zoning clearance applications.

The City issued three new business licenses in July. One license was for an auto shop, another was for an air conditioning company office, and the third license was for a medical office.

Community Preservation continued to be very active in July 2022. The number of cases opened and closed between July 2022 and July 2021 increased 82%. The cases in July 2022 were evenly split between cases opened at the request of the public and cases initiated by the inspector.

PARKS AND RECREATION

2022 MOVIES IN THE PARK SERIES

Bring the whole family along with your picnic blankets and join us for the free 2022 Movies in the Park series on Friday evenings at Temple City Park. The series runs for four consecutive Fridays during the month of September. Exciting pre-movie festivities beginning at 7:15 p.m. include art activities, a costume contest (Encanto), entertainment (Lilo & Stitch and Sing 2), raffles, and more! Movies begin at approximately 8:00 p.m. or when it gets dark enough. Concessions will be available for purchase. Attendees will be sitting on the grass, with a designated front area for blankets and another rear area for lawn chairs. For detailed information on the movie series please CLICK HERE.
