Dear Church,

Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire

“He caused an east wind to blow in the heavens And by His power He brought in the south wind.” Psalm 78:26

Happy New Year everyone!

The year 2023 is the “Year of Rebuilding with the Supernatural”. The Pandemic that ravaged the entire world has also exposed the vulnerability of the church. The fire of Covid 19 revealed the quality and the strength of our faith. Paul puts it very plainly when he wrote in 1 Cor. 3:11-15:

“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.”

Our faith must be anchored in Christ, be for Christ and be about Christ. Everything else is to be considered temporal, peripheral, and non-essential to our faith and ministry for Him. Among other concerns….

  • Covid has revealed the quality of our faith when we are stripped of our usual opportunity to worship, fellowship, and receive ministry. Many hearts have grown cold because they do not know how to walk with God in challenging times.
  • Covid has tested our resolve to find different ways to continue to worship together and “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together...” (Heb. 10:25). Many have discarded the “Sabbath principle” and what it means to worship with their own spiritual family (the local church) on the Lord’s Day. Christianity has become an individualistic, consumeristic, convenience- driven and lawless religiosity to many, even though churches are already open for service, and they do not have any personal or related medical concerns.
  • Covid has created a mentality that nothing is certain, and everything will be subject to change because of the impact it has had on every stratum of society. Whereas this may be true in the administration of human strategies and organization, it is not true in the matter of our Christian faith and the Kingdom of God. The Bible declares, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Matt. 24:35). Hebrews 12:28 declares, “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.”

The Pandemic has stretched our faith and our very existence to the limit. It has drained the energy and resolve of even the strongest among us. The world and church included have been weakened and made vulnerable to the selfish and opportunistic ways of man and the demonic that will no doubt take the opportunity to remold us after their kind.

It is therefore imperative that we experience a “Fresh Wind and Fresh Fire” of the Holy Spirit. We need to be refreshed, revived, and brought to divine focus in our spirit individually and corporately as a church. We need to be made strong again.

I pray for you the prayer of Paul in Eph. 3:14-21:

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who can do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen”

I am believing God with everyone of you that this is the “Year of Rebuilding with the Supernatural”.

As Christians, we are made for a time like this and even harder times.

God will rebuild every facet of your life again if you will trust Him and tap into the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.

Amen and Amen!
