The Writs of Assistance By: emma denny
The Writs of Assistance was when King George lll used an old law that made the colonists very angry. This law allowed English officials to have a warrant to search anyone, anywhere, anytime. The colonists felt this act was very unfair, because people were searching through their houses. The writs were first introduced in Massachusetts in 1751 to strictly enforce the Acts of Trade. This act was one of the causes that led up to the American Revolution.
