Mules Top #9 Endicott, Amherst for 2-1 Week
Men's Ice Hockey opened the week stunning #9-ranked Endicott College. Drew Burke scored early in the match and Carter Breitenfeldt tallied an empty-net goal as the clock ticked down.
Despite leading early Friday night at Hamilton, Colby fell to the Continentals 3-1. The setback was short-lived, as the Mules returned to action Saturday with a 3-0 shutout of Amherst. Breitenfeldt scored his second of the week, and Abdoul Diouf tallied his first collegiate goal.
Goalie Andy Beran posted 28 saves against Endicott and picked up 36 against Amherst for his second and third shutouts on the season.
Colby is 5-3 overall on the season, ranking 5th in NESCAC.
Colby Splits First NESCAC Weekend, Improves to 9-2
The Women's Basketball team opened NESCAC play hosting Conn. College on Friday. Playing with the lead the entire way, the Mules beat the Camels in convincing fashion 66-51, marking their first victory over Conn. since the 2016-17 season.
Hosting Trinity on Saturday, the Bantams and Mules both played aggressive defense and ended regulation knotted at 45. With Colby nursing a two-point lead as time wound down, the tenacity of Trinity proved too much. The Bantams scored the tying bucket with seven seconds remaining, regained possession, and hit a layup as time expired to come out on top 52-50.
Colby improved its record to 9-2 overall and ranks fifth in NESCAC.
Swimming & Diving Takes on Panthers
The Men's Swimming and Diving team traveled to Middlebury to take on the Panthers in head to head battle. Behind seven event winners, Colby was able to edge out their hosts 152-146. The men's team has now defeated Middlebury in three of the last four tries.
The Women's Swimming & Diving team fell to Middlebury in a tight matchup, 154-140. The Mules had event winners in eight of the 16 events, and swept the podium in the 1000yd Freestyle (Addie Paige, Lacey Wright, Michelle Kennedy).
Great Results at US Nationals for Nordic Skiing, Ready for Carnival Season
Eight athletes from the Men's and Women's Nordic Ski Team traveled to Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah for US Nationals. Facing the top talent in the country, including many of the top collegiate skiers, the Mules took home impressive results.

The Mules will open their Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) circuit this Friday hosting the Colby Carnival at Quarry Road. The Alpine events will be held at Sugarloaf.
Men's Basketball Battles Camels and Mariners Close
Men's Basketball opened their NESCAC season on the road at Conn. College on Friday. Despite an 11-point Colby lead at the half, the Camels came storming back with almost 50 second-half points en route to a 69-63 win over the Mules.
Colby stayed on the road over the weekend to visit Mitchell College before returning to Mayflower Hill. Once again, Colby found itself ahead at the break, leading 40-36. The Mariners shot a remarkable 65% from the floor in the second half and outpaced the Mules 92-81.
Colby is 7-6 overall, tied for 6th in the NESCAC.
Men's Squash Tops Panthers, Lee of WSQU Undefeated on the Weekend
The Men's Squash team defeated Middlebury College on Saturday by a score of 5-4. Victories came from Jonathan Sosa (3-2), Alex Spafford (3-1), Jack Vanderhorst (1-0 RE), Xi Shearer (3-2) and Tyler Burt (3-2).
Burt's match in the 8-seed was the last to be completed. The 44-minute battle saw over 100 points in play, and Burt's victory sealed the match for the Mules.
On Sunday the Mules visited 16th-ranked Williams. The Ephs swept their way to a 9-0 home victory.
The Women's Squash team faced off against #14 Middlebury Saturday and #13 Williams Sunday, falling in both (8-1, 8-1). Andrea Lee was a bright spot for the Mules out of the 1-seed, defeating both of her opponents in straight sets. Her only loss of the season came in December against Trinity, losing a close battle 3-2 out of the top seed.
