Equestriette Captain, senior Leah Jang performs her award-winning solo competition piece. “It doesn’t matter how much dance experience you have," Jang said. "It’s about learning and growing, and we both get to improve our dance technique while also developing this tight knit [community], which I found special this year."
The small jazz competition piece won first place in all 5 regional competitions. Dancer, sophomore Kiara Artola believes the team's commitment and practice made this possible. "On the team, there are a lot of people that have the same way of thinking, " Artola said. "Everyone is working towards the same goal and putting in an equal amount of effort."
The parents of the Equestriettes try their hand at the art form and show their moves in a choreographed dance.
"I think it's awesome to finally see a full gym where they can show off everything that they've worked on throughout the whole season." Coach Morgan Locke said. "It's nice for their extended family, friends as well as our student body to be able to see how hard they've been working all year. Not just what you see at rallies in football, but everything additional that comes with being a part of the team."
