Content Info For The Week
Math (Carver, Beasley, and Meeks):
Students will be working on solving systems by graphing. We will be graphing systems in standard form, meaning that we will have to convert the equation into slope-intercept form in order to graphing. By Wednesday, we will be exploring solving systems by substitution.
Algebra I (Meeks):
Students will review for their assessment over exponential functions. We will be testing over unit 3 on Tuesday. Our next unit will be over quadratic functions.
Read 180 (Styron and Barker):
This week students in R180 will complete the 3rd and final Spring MAP reading test on Tuesday March 8th. In addition, students will identify main idea and supporting details in given passages working in small groups or individually to complete a plot diagram for an assigned chapter of the class novel, as well as continue to work towards meeting individual goals set within the R180 system thru completing App segments and Independent Reading Work.
ELA (MacArthur and Lee):
This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will continue their novel study over Hidden Figures. Students will begin the transition to individual reading to focus more specifically on reading comprehension skills. Additionally, students will start preparing for their next performance task, a research paper over the events in the Civil Rights Movement.
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue their study of our in-class novel Hidden Figures. We will take a look at the events of the Cold War, and how the women on Hidden Figures played a role. We will continue to focus on elements of informational text, including author's purpose, central idea, and supporting details.
9th Grade Lit (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will finalize and submit their To Kill A Mockingbird DBQ essays (due Monday, March 7th). We will begin Unit #3 this week, where we will be studying the language and influence of William Shakespeare by reading his most popular play, Romeo and Juliet. Please note: Students have been working very diligently on their DBQ essays! To allow students the necessary time to complete their essays, the Unit #2 assessment has been moved to Friday, March 11th.
The ELA MAP test will be given on Tuesday, March 8th.
Science (Winkworth and Herndon):
Students will finish their Speed, Velocity, and Acceleration lesson and take an assessment. Then the students will develop the understanding of how unbalanced forces affect objects. Students will learn how to identify unbalanced forces and what the net force of a system is. An unbalanced force occurs when one force acting on an object is greater than another force acting on the object. Net force involves either adding two values of two forces acting in the same direction on an object or subtracting two opposing forces acting on an object to determine the overall force affecting change.
Social Studies (MacArthur and Colli
Mr. Collier's Georgia Studies class finished up our look at the Civil Rights Movement. We will begin looking at Georgia in the late 20th century starting with gathering an in depth profile of President Jimmy Carter and moving through the Savannah Port Expansion!
This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will begin reviewing for their Unit 9 Test over Post War Georgia, and the Civil Rights Movement. Additionally, students will start their standard breakdown for our next unit over Georgia in the late 20th Century.
Look what we have been up to!
