This Week @BHS JUly update and A Special Message

Fellow Tigers,

If you have not heard yet, I was recently promoted to become the Director of Operations for the Beechwood School District. Although, I am extremely excited about this opportunity to make a larger impact on not just grades 7-12, but the district as a whole - it is also bittersweet that I will be “leaving” the place I love and have loved for the past 8 years.

First, a thank you to all those who I have come to work with over the years (parents, staff, teachers, students, community, etc.). I have received nothing but positive support and encouragement from each. This has made my job and place in this community so enjoyable and fulfilling.

Most importantly, I feel that the high school (currently with its teachers, staff, and students) is in about as good a place as I could have imagined. The leadership that exists in each classroom, office, court, field, and hallway is a testament to the people who work and live their professional lives in those spaces. I am thrilled to continue to watch each department of teachers grow in their capacity to lead this school from within. I have messaged our vision and pushed for many initiatives while in my role as principal such as learners and leaders, the EDGE, The Beechwood Way, and the 3 P’s (Professional, Positive, and Progressive). Although I am proud of how consistent that messaging was to how I performed and what we were able to accomplish, it pales in comparison to the pride I have for the teachers, staff, community, and most importantly - the former and current students of Beechwood High School.

I am extremely excited to continue that messaging and forward thinking as I will be able to support and mentor (along with Dr. Schobel) not just the high school administration, but the district as a whole.

The Beechwood Way was established in my first year as principal and has stood the test of time (so far!), but “we are beechwood” came before me and will continue to be here long after I am gone. I am confident that we will see The Beechwood Way continue just as “we are beechwood” has in its ability to set a vision for what we do and how we do it.

This is not a goodbye, just a new way to make an impact at THE place that has made such an impact on me.

Go Tigers. wearebeechwood.

Mr. Kaiser

What at time. Thank you all.

Now back to the July Newsletter update.....

Alejandra Saavedra was selected and attended Kentucky Girls State at WKU last week. At the end of the week, she was 1 of 2 girls selected to attend the National Program in Washington DC! Kentucky Girls State is an annual program for rising seniors. For a week, girls from all around Kentucky gather to debate bills, elect state officials, and participate in small city gatherings as well as large party conventions, all while making new friends and learning the importance of democracy.

Yearbooks!

Rising seniors and parents, just a reminder that summer is perfect time to make your appointment and get your senior picture taken at Prestige. Schedule now at prestigeportraits.com/studio or call (513)772-2110. The deadline for getting your senior picture taken with Prestige is October 5th. The senior picture taken at Prestige is used for the yearbook, the graduation composite poster that hangs in the halls and the graduation signs that line the street the week of graduation. ALSO, Friendly reminder about Beechwood High School yearbooks: The high school yearbook is a fall delivery book not a spring delivery one like the elementary yearbook. The high school yearbooks arrive generally around late September/ Early October so those that purchased the 2022-23 yearbook will receive their book at that time. The deadline to order this book has passed but a few extra books were ordered and those books will go on sale the day after the purchased books are delivered. If you have any questions please reach out to Beechwood Yearbook advisor dawn.norris@beechwood.kyschools.us

If you are considering dropping an AP course, July 15th is the deadline to request a course drop. This is a firm deadline. Please know that if the course you requesting to move into does not have seats available, you may not be able to move out of the AP course.
