ITA Rookie of the Year

Ethan Quinn from the University of Georgia has been named the 2023 ITA Rookie of the Year.

As the 2023 SEC Freshman of the Year, Ethan Quinn finished the season as the No. 2 ranked singles player in the country and No. 3 in doubles with Trent Bryde. Quinn finished as the highest ranked freshman in the nation.

Known for coming up huge on the biggest of stages, Quinn had one of the most impressive individual seasons by a freshman in recent history.

Beginning in the fall, Quinn finished as the No. 1 player in the country after beginning his collegiate career with nine-consecutive wins in singles. The redshirt freshman played ranked opponents in each of his nine singles matches and picked up four wins against players in the top-10 of the ITA singles rankings, including his teammate No. 10 Philip Henning.

Quinn won both the ITA All-American Championships and the Southern Intercollegiate Championships. He won five of his six matches at the ITA All-American Championships in straight sets en route to capturing the singles title.

Moving to the spring, the Fresno, Calif. native finished Southeastern Conference play with a 10-1 record and was selected as the SEC Freshman of the Week a league-high five times this season. He was the only freshman in the SEC to play court one in both singles and doubles.

Quinn finished the season with a singles record of 34-10. He led the Georgia men’s tennis team in ranked wins with 26 during the season. This success helped earn Quinn a top seed into the NCAA Singles Championship where he would go on to make even more history.

Winning Georgia's fifth NCAA Singles Championship in program history, Quinn became just the fourth freshman in NCAA history to claim the title during their freshman season.
