Canadian Institute of Marine Engineering Scholarship

Tiffany O'D.

Marine Engineering Management Technology, Strait Area Campus

"This award will surely help me financially as I have student debt for the first time. It was a difficult decision to leave my corporate job and steady paycheck every two weeks but with bursaries like this, it helps leaps and bounds. Awards like this not only help financially but they are so motivating to keep going and keep giving it my all. This program is a huge time commitment and sometimes it can be overwhelming but being recognized and awarded for my efforts makes this all worth it. Times like these, with all the negative news in the world, some positive news is very welcomed."

"My current goal is to start and complete the Advanced Diploma Marine Engineering program with honors. This advanced program wasn't on my radar when I began, but after I realized that I could do this, I decided to commit just 1.5 years more. I only need 34 more days sea time before I can write my ticket to be a 4th class Engineer, so I am planning on writing that this summer. In the further future, I wish to become a 3rd engineer and maybe a 2nd engineer once I have many years of experience. This award greatly helps me on the journey to reach these goals as a helping hand and an extra boost in motivation."

Thank you for leading the way for NSCC students.
