From the Principal's Desk
As Week 10 draws quickly to a close and students and staff get ready to clean up classrooms for a well-earned holiday, we look back at Semester One and wonder “there did that time go?”
Unlike Term 1, Term 2 weathered the full impact of COVID. Over the term the staff at Lynwood did a fantastic job at balancing both curriculum and assessment needs as they responded to rolling staff and students’ absences. Each day our school community banded together to meet the challenges COVID created. With that said, it has been amazing to see our students step up under such adversity and successfully complete their NAPLAN, OLNA or EST assessments within the set external timeframes and return to school as quickly as their recovery could let them.
We are all very proud of how well our students have managed this term, they have worked hard to ensure that they stayed focused on what they needed to complete to stay on track for positive results. Even with the ongoing issues of the pandemic, most of our students took home very pleasing reports, which highlighted their academic success and resilience to a constantly changing environment.
It was exciting to see the following numbers of lower school students who receive 3 or more A grades in their MESH (Maths, English, Science and Humanities) courses:
• Ten Year 7 students
• Eighteen Year 8 students
• Thirty -two Year 9 students
• Twenty-five Year 10 students
These results plus the very impressive number of B grades also awarded, highlight the hard work and positive approach many of our students have developed towards their academic pathways, plus the behind the scenes work staff have undertaken to maintain high expectations and standards. The school holidays will give us a chance to reflect on our overall results and allow for conversations at home about what second semester resolutions need to be made to ensure better study habits or submitting assessments on time happen to see improvement in the second half of the year. I would encourage any parents or carers who have queries about their child’s report to make contact with teachers at the start of Term 3.
The last two weeks of Term 2 gave us a chance to highlight our talented students and staff of Lynwood SHS. The Arts Team coordinated a series of spectacular exhibitions and performances of dance, music, photography, visual arts and drama during breaks and to a sell-out evening performance. Supported by the library staff, the team established a beautiful gallery space in the library that showcased the talent of students studying courses within the Visual Arts, Media and Photography. The exhibition filled the library and displayed work from all years group and across a wide range of mediums. The student and staff work has definitely set a new high standard and we all look forward to more exhibitions of this quality in the future.
The Arts Learning Area were not the only learning area to shine during Term 2. An exciting initiative from our new science staff, Graeme Johnson, Toby Dix and Oscar King with additional support from Dean Coad and Robyn Cleaver, saw Lynwood start our very own Pedal Prix team. The team were successful in securing a federal government grant, which was enhanced by a generous sponsorship from the P & C. Our small but enthusiastic and motivated team, has shown great improvement with each Pedal Prix meeting they have attended. Championed by a dedicated parent cheer squad, this new school team can only go from strength to strength as they begin their preparations for the next meeting later this year. The team is always looking for new members, so if you enjoy going very fast, very close to the ground , love cycling or dream to be in a racing team pit crew see Mr Johnson in Science and sign up for some great fun. The next Pedal Prix meeting is on the 21st August, hosted in Busselton.
Teaching is a privilege and this term I had the opportunity to teach art in both the Developing and Transitioning classes of the Intensive English Centre. As Principal, I have always found it good to have the ability to teach a class to keep connected to what is happening in the classroom and my time in the IEC did not disappoint. By spending time in the IEC, I have been very lucky to be immersed in a two way learning environment, where both students and staff are constantly learning something new from each other. Lynwood is very fortunate that our students are incredibly generous and willing to share and are proud of their language, culture, music and food !! As a celebration of what was achieved over the semester, our two IEC classes came together over a big banquet of our favourite foods from home and all over the world. As a special treat, students had a chance to try a traditional Australian dish of kangaroo tail!
Finally as my time as Principal comes to a close and we get ready to welcome back Mrs Hardy from her leave I would like to thank the staff, parents, members of the P&C and members of the School Board for their support and ongoing dedication to ensuring Lynwood SHS is a great school which continues to offer innovative and exciting opportunities to our students current and future. I trust that all members of our school community had a safe, well earned, restful holiday.
Student Achievement
Naoka Zein Year 11 recently competed as part of a trio at the Acrobatic Gymnastic nationals in Queensland. The trio competed in all three routines; balance dynamic and combined gymnastics, achieving and hitting all of the skills. The trio achieved an outstanding result of being placed 6th in Balance in all of Australia.
Congratulations to Josh Bell Year 10 and Mustafa Mohammadi Year 11, both boys have been selected for the Boys 16yrs and Under Football (Soccer) team.
Staff Achievement
Joyce coordinates our school volunteers and this award recognises her involvement, organisation and recruitment of the lovely volunteers who help support our students with their learning at Lynwood SHS.
We are proud to announce that we have three staff recently appointed as School Sports National coaches/managers. Congratulations to;
THE ARTS
Drama Club
Running every Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 4 pm, the Lynwood Drama Club brings together a diverse group of committed students from all year levels. These students exude bravery, confidence, as well as the willingness to learn and develop their creativity.
Our much-loved Miss G from Curtin University has been working with the students to stimulate their imaginations and allow them to explore drama in a safe and supportive environment. This includes fun and exciting drama games that encourage the students to work together as a team to develop their dramatic skills.
We are all so proud of the dedication, enthusiasm and experiences each student brings each session. The Drama Club also welcomes anyone interested in stage production – lighting, props, and camera. Come and see us!!
Check out the photos from our recent Drama night, well done to all of our talented students!
Drama Night
Throughout Term 2, the focus has been on preparing and rehearsing for Drama Night which is part of Lynwood’s Art Week. With over ten students working hard to showcase their talents through the delivery of entertaining and humorous monologues, duologues, and large performances. Well done to all involved, it was a fantastic evening!!
Music
The Year 7s have concluded this term by learning about Western Art Music. The Year 8s have rounded off their term by learning about Pop and Blues. The Year 9s have had an exciting term diving into video game music, instrument timbres and polyrhythms.
Lynwood Arts Week 2022 kicked off in Week 9 and our Middle and Senior bands put on impressive performances as usual. We have also had several students form their own small ensembles outside of these bands perform some songs of their own! These enthusiastic students have come into the music room during recess and lunch to rehearse their performances, ensuring that music is alive and well at Lynwood.
Mr. Mullin will move on from Lynwood at the end of Term 2. He has achieved much in a short amount of time and the Arts Department would like to thank him for his time, contributions, and services to the school, and to the education and wellbeing of our students. We wish him the best for his future endeavours!
We would also like to welcome Ms. Ambrogio, our Head of Learning Area, back to Lynwood in Term 3 after having a year off taking care of her newborn daughter. We are excited to have her back and she is just as excited to reconnect with the school and the students again.
Mr. Chan and Mr. Mullin
Visual Arts
Our Visual Arts students have been busy this semester completing several projects. Year 7 students have completed Onomatopoeia fridge magnets based on the work of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. Year 8 students have created fabulous Wild Beasts exploring contrasting colour schemes and abstract pattern prints inspired by shells. The Year 8s also had the opportunity to work with Pamela Gaunt, the WA artist selected to create artwork for the new arts building. The students explored the theme of identity by creating line drawings. Pamela will convert these line drawings into digital works and develop patterns to transfer onto acrylic panels for the new building. The panels will emit light and expose the designs created from the students' work.
Year 9s have explored watercolour camouflage painting and clay. The Year 10s have completed architecture perspective paintings and have worked on reduction lino prints. Year 11 students have created event posters, while the Year 12s completed surrealist paintings based on the themes of identity, nostalgia, and memory. A selection of this fantastic work was on display in the library.
The media and photography students have also completed several projects this semester. Year 7 students have created Lego stop-motion videos using the iPads. Year 8s have worked on an Instagram social media project, capturing the best of Lynwood. Year 8 students also worked as a team to follow a production process to create a superhero film trailer, and they had a lot of fun making up superheroes and choosing costumes for filming. Year 9 photography students worked in the studio, capturing portraits and objects using the painting with light technique. Year 9 Media students started the semester learning editing skills by turning a comedy clip into a horror, demonstrating their understanding of film conventions. After working on filming skills, they filmed and edited a chase scene suitable for an action movie.
Year 10 Media captured the school grounds, looking at perspective and framing. Year 10 Photography students completed a black and white studio portrait triptych. They went on to complete a photo essay of their choice, capturing everything from cooking and cultural events to the Lynwood wetlands. Year 11 students learned about cold openings and then created their production. They also looked at film marketing techniques, creating both a film poster and trailer. Year 12 Media students made a short film around the horror genre. They went on to create a trailer for their short film. They are currently working on creating a reality television segment exploring stereotypical characters. The Arts exhibition displayed a selection of the students' media work.
During Arts Week, Pamela Gaunt was invited back for an incursion. The visual arts teachers nominated students to participate. First, Pamela introduced her artwork and previous public art projects she has created. Then she showed the students the new building drawings and how she plans to incorporate the artwork into the building. Once students were clear on the context of the artwork, they spent the afternoon exploring a range of media to create line drawings that explore their identity, culture, and objects representing themselves, their community and world.
It has been a fantastic semester and we look forward to the second half of the year and all the exciting things it may bring.

EaLS
Bee Mania Alive at Lynwood SHS
To most, the humble bee is at best invisible, and a painful sting away at worst. But to the Year 7 EaLS classes, they are a vital piece of the world’s ecosystem jigsaw and responsible for much of the food that we eat.
Students in the EaLS program recently helped celebrate International Bee Week with the building of bee hotels - structures that bees can use to rest and lay their eggs. Students’ creativity was on show as they repurposed used containers, bottles, and boxes to build their hotel. EaLS teacher Mr Toby Dix said, “With the students building the bee hotels out of reusable materials, we reinforce the idea of sustainability across all areas of the environment.”
Students were encouraged to find a location at home to entice the bees back as populations have declined rapidly in recent years.

Girls Soccer Update
This term has gone well for Girls Soccer. It has been remarkably busy with after school games, zone carnivals and tournaments.
The Year 8 girls went to the Zone Carnival and played in a tournament with the boys, the boys A team finished 1st and the girls finished as runners-up. We entered two teams, and both played well.
All the girls have been training hard in class and doing their recovery in the ice baths after their weekend games. The schedule is busy with games after school as well as games on the weekend for their respective clubs, and therefore the players need to look after their bodies with proper nutrition, hydration, and recovery. It is not pleasant on the ears when the girls get into the freezing water, but it does aid the muscles and tired bodies to repair and recover in time for the next sessions. Our school games have been going well. We have four teams all playing in the competition this term, we have:
- Senior Girls- on track for 2nd place in the group
- Junior A- 1st in their group
- Junior B- 1 game left to finish the campaign but on target for 3rd
- Junior C- Top of their league and won the Southeast District Flag
Our senior girls have only played three games as exams and COVID-19 have interfered with the fixtures for schools, and it has been difficult to schedule. The girls will get an opportunity to play the games between weeks 8 to 10. Here is hoping we have some more wins!
The Junior C team was impressive. This team is all Year 7 girls, and some of them have never played 11-a-side before. They have competed against schools which have Year nine students playing in their teams. Our girls have really stepped up and give the older girls some stiff competition. We won all our games in the league and finished 1st, and now we progress to the Schools Sport WA Shield knockout stages. Let us see if we can get to the final with a Year 7 team!!
The Junior B team played two games both against the A teams of Lynwood and Safety Bay, even though they played some good football, unfortunately they lost to Lynwood but managed to beat Safety Bay’s A team with an impressive performance. At the time of writing, they have two games left to play against South Coast Baptist and Safety Bay’s B team, and hopefully we will win both.
Junior A team have been impressive and have won comfortably against Lynwood B, South Coast Baptist, and Safety Bay B team with one draw against John Curtin. With one game left to play the A team are sitting at the top of their table, they play Safety Bay A team in week 10. Let us hope it is also a win!
Also, this term, ten of our girls had the privilege to host and referee the School Sport Year 6 South East Region Girls Soccer Championships at Hossack Reserve. The girls set up the pitches for the tournament, scored, refereed, and did the lines for the day. Our girls were excellent and very professional in their approach to their duties. At the end of the day, they presented the medals and trophies to the winners, runners-up, and the MVP for best player and best goals keeper. All the schools involved were incredibly grateful for our students’ hard work on the day, which helped the Year 6 girls enjoy the experience.
Finally, our house indoor competition has kicked off. The competition runs each Wednesday during lunch and is split into senior and junior sections. Each female soccer student has as house and each house play each other in this term's tournament. It is currently a close call on points, and the house with the most wins will be rewarded with ten points towards the House Cup Competition 2022.
In Week 9 the girls soccer Academy Year 7 to 10 came together to listen to a guest speaker - a professional Soccer player from WA named Ella Mastrantonio, who has played professionally under Miss Williams at Lazio, Bristol City and Australian clubs such as Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory. Ella is a very experienced player and shared some of her experiences and expectations of professional players with our girls. It was a chance for our girls to meet a professional player and ask questions which helped them understand what it takes to make it in top level Football.
We are looking forward to a fantastic Term 3!
Ann Gourley, Soccer Academy Coach
Boys Update
With rescheduled games, COVID-19 related interruptions, and the usual packed schedule, Term 2 has been the toughest since the Soccer Academy started!
The term started with the School Sport WA Districts competition that saw Naveed Juma, Sher Hossin Hasani, Ariyan Patel, Jackson Campbell, Joshua Bell, Mustafa Mohammadi, Ali Reza Sharifi, Naveed Jawid, Aab Tamochan and Jacob Leahy represent the Southeast district, ably coached by our own Mr Galic. From there Josh and Mustafa were selected for the State Under 16 train-on squad. Hopefully, they make the cut in a couple of weeks' time.
Our first Year 6 trials were also held for the year this term. A good solid group that no doubt will be representing the school next year. The second trial was held on 22nd June with the third on the 18th of August.
The first Zone Carnival was held for the year with the Year 8s leading the way. Roman Dilello, the Captain of Year 8 has summed up the day below:
‘The 2022 Southeast Zone Carnival took place at Hartfield Park in Forrestfield. Lynwood had entered two teams into this carnival including an A and a B side. A couple of boys from the A side chose to move down to B after the first few games. However, both teams had to go up against the likes of Belmont Senior High School, Kenwick Senior High School, as well as Darling Range Sports College and Yulebrook College. In the Yulebrook game, our Lynwood sides cruised past most of the teams with the B side having one or two semi close calls, but that did not stop both sides from winning each game. Except for one. The A side against the B side. This was a remarkably close game however neither team found a brace and it ended up in a 0-0 draw. In classic Lynwood fashion, both of Lynwood’s senior teams were on top. This sparked the first taste of competition for the year 8s in 2022.’
In-between all of that, there has been a plethora of school games. The Junior A and B teams have tough groups and whilst not getting the results they wanted, our teams have been competitive and are only 5% off the pace so there is a lot of hope there. The Intermediate B team are in a very tough group and are battling to stay in the top three for the Champions Cup. They may miss out, but we have no doubt they will represent well in the Shield. The Intermediate A teams have been leading the way with some decent performances, including a victory over John Curtin. They top their group with one game to go which should give them the confidence to really have a crack at the Champions Cup. Lynwood’s senior boys, on the other hand, have struggled to perform with key players the team were down due to illness or injury. The boys remaining are doing their best to battle through, but it has been tough, and they have had to rely on year 10s to fill the gaps. So, it will be the shield for them and hopefully with a couple of injuries returning they can lift themselves up.
Sustainability
This is the ‘Safe Routes to School Access Map’ which has been prepared by the Department of Transport who have been working with the school to increase active modes of transport i.e. walking and riding. This is the next phase of the Your Move program after the stencilling activity completed last term.
Lynwood goes racing!
In what is a new initiative for the school, a dedicated group of students and staff recently competed in their first two WA Pedal Prix events this term.
Our expectations were not exactly high. The trike build was not completed until a few days before the first race; and team members had limited training. Adopting the name ‘Courageous’, because it takes courage to do something for the first time, we were ready to race. First it was off to the Driver Risk Management Centre at Perth Airport on Sunday, 15 May. Our team goals were simple. Work together and support one another; keep the trike on the track for the duration of the race; achieve 100+ laps; and not come last (though that would have been okay if it happened). Our expectations were exceeded with Team Courageous completing 124 laps and coming 25 out of 30. Above all we had fun and worked well as a team.
For our next race, the team travelled to Bunbury. Being more used to racing, we improved our overall position to 24th. Our next and final race of the year will be in Busselton so if any student is interested in joining the team, please see Mr Johnson in the Science Department.
Lynwood HPV Racing was extremely fortunate to receive a Sponsorship Grant for Student Science Engagement and Competitions from the Australian Government. This programme hopes to inspire more school-aged children to participate in STEM events including the WA Pedal Prix. Also supporting our inaugural racing season is your Lynwood SHS P+C. This contribution has enabled the purchase of bike shoes and spares.

Lower School Deputy's Report
We encountered and survived the continuing saga of ‘It that shall not be named.’ Having come out the other end a few weeks back, my family breathed a sigh of relief. I know that there are some families who have not experienced Covid yet, so I hope that when they do, it will be relatively pain free for them, but my thoughts are with those who are continuing to feel its effects. I sincerely hope it ends soon.
I would like to take this further opportunity to remind everyone that Student Progress Reports will be slightly different this year. A Connect notice has gone out to all years, but I would like to remind Parents/Guardians, that Year 7, 10 and 12 reports will be issued this semester in Week 10 (look out for the Connect and email notice), whilst Year 8, 9 and 11 reports will come out early next term. This decision was once again made to allow more time for subjects to be taught, enabling students to maximise their learning.
Other news is that for the first time, we have moved to online Subject Selections. This is exciting for the students and the school as it will mean that the process for subject selections and the formation of the 2023 timetable will be more streamlined. The process should be complete by the time you read this article.
In conclusion, I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday and used the time to relax, refocus and be ready for the latter half of the year.
Andrew Symington, Lower School Deputy Principal
IEC
Our IEC TI students visited Curtin Uni this term. Students really enjoyed the opportunity to engage in various activities and learn more about the Curtin University campus.
Careers
It has been another busy term in Careers this term, as we continue to provide support for pathway decision-making for our Year 10 students, along with post-schooling options for our Year 11s and 12s.
The Access 10 students attended Try-a-Trade in Belmont early in the term, where they learned the basics of construction and bricklaying. The three days were very hands-on, with students mixing mortar, laying bricks, and paving and constructing a picket fence. The trainers were really impressed with this enthusiastic group who pulled together as a team and displayed a magnificent work ethic.
The Jobs and Skills Centre WA have continued to provide a series of valuable one-on-one appointments for Year 10s to assist them to make decisions for the next phase of their schooling. This has been particularly valuable leading up to the end of Term Two, as Year 10 students embark on the important job of selecting their subjects for Years 11 and 12.
Over the term our Year 11 and 12 students were visited by TAFE, and representatives from Curtin University, Murdoch University, and the Defence Force to discuss post-schooling options. All gave lively and informative presentations that answered many of our students’ questions about the various pathways on offer.
During National Careers Week in May, we launched the brand-new Lynwood Careers website. This is a one stop shop for all career-related things, including open days, apprenticeship news, job advertisements, TAFE and university updates and career exploration. Two of our talented Year 10 students have already secured part-time employment at Canning Library after being directed to the ad for Lynwood Careers!
Lastly, we finish the term on a note of excitement as we gear up to implement the Year 9 Career Taster Program next semester, with a host of guest speakers, excursions, and exciting new programs to help our Year 9 students learn a little more about the world beyond school.

Assessments…examinations…excursions….COVID…Year 10 course selections…Semester 1 reporting…the Year 12 Ball!
As I write this article, I reflect on the past term and can not go past how busy and complex it has been. Term 2 is busy enough in the school calendar but with the added complications of holding our Year 11 and 12 ATAR exams offsite and the rolling changes that came with students and staff contracting COVID, we are all ready for the holidays.
Year 10 students have now made their course selections for Year 11 2023, but as I keep telling the students it is only the start of the process. Behind the scenes we are building the 2023 timetable and loading each student’s preferences. While many students will get everything that they ask for, it is inevitable that courses with low numbers don’t run and favoured courses appear on the same gridline. We endeavour to do our best but when everyone wants something different, it is difficult to meet everyone’s expectations. At the beginning of Term 2, we will be working with those students who have gaps in their course selections, or don’t have the prerequisite marks, to consider their options.
Our Year 11 and 12 ATAR students attended their exams at Hossack Park during the examination period due to the extensive building program on site. We thank the City of Canning for their support in using the facilities at a reduced rate as it meant that our students could focus their attention on completing their exams without the noise of construction interrupting.
The Year 12 School Ball is always a highlight of the year and while delayed, it was wonderful to see the glitz and glamour of last night’s event. Mrs McClelland and her team of helpers did a wonderful job pulling the event together, and it was a nice way to end the term!
Term 3 will be another busy term with Round 2 of OLNA and our Year 12s completing their remaining assessments. But for now, a well earned holiday is due!
Robyn Cleaver, Senior School Deputy Principal
Year 12 Coordinator
What an eventful term it has been for the Year 12 students! The arrival of their Leavers jackets coincided with the official landing of winter. The jackets were worth the wait and look amazing on the cohort. Good luck to everyone in keeping the white sleeves, white though! This is the time to learn how to do laundry, if you have not yet mastered this skill.
Through the Essential Skills Program, students have participated in a variety of activities that aim to help prepare them for life after school, whatever their pathway may be. These have included seminars from Universities and the Defence Force, workshops on relevant topics for the students such as stress management, creating references and collating evidence for job applications. There have even been sessions on skills such as effective time management and forward planning.
There have been TAG activities that prove guessing how many of something there are in a jar is not as easy as it looks. Even when you apply Science and Maths to the task! Congratulations to all the winners and I hope each of your prizes brought you some joy during a busy term.
And then there was the movie night! What a terrific way to spend some time together as a cohort without the pressures of school. It was a night where the students needed to think about nothing other than Top Gun. The cumulative total of popcorn, chips and chocolates in the cinema was more than what was left in Woolworths.
Last but definitely not least, the Year 12 School Ball was held on Thursday 10th of June. After being postponed in Term One due to COVID-19, the students no longer needed to coordinate their masks with their outfits. I was extremely excited to see the students in all their glory, they all looked amazing and made the most of this special school event. Keep your eye on FB for the Ball photos!
With only 10 weeks of school left, every moment counts!
Ms McClelland, Year 12 Coordinator
Library News
Introducing Mrs Helen Currie – Library Volunteer
The library at Lynwood SHS would like to publicly acknowledge our dedicated Library Volunteer Mrs. Helen Currie. Helen has volunteered in the library twenty hours per week for the past four years, only missing a few weeks in 2020 during COVID-19 lockdown and when volunteers were not permitted into schools.
After sanitizing the returned books Helen shelves them. This is a mammoth task with our library loaning out over 10,000 books per year. She also assists with covering new books, organizing the uniform bank, taking displays down and preparing teaching packs for classes. Learning Areas have also had Helen cover textbooks for them.
At 87 years old, Helen’s physical fitness, organization and reliability is incredible, and we value and appreciate her immensely. Helen never hesitates to learn a new skill or assist with any task the library requires.
Thank you, Helen, we love having you work with us for Lynwood SHS staff and students!

In the Workshop
This semester the Year 11 General Woodwork class has been busy designing and constructing their cantilever box assessment. This consists of a design folio and construction of their design with a sustainability focus, in line with the school's sustainability efforts. All the students have incorporated some of the floorboards that were salvaged from the old buildings at Lynwood SHS, which is nice that they are taking some nostalgia with home with them.
The students enjoyed choosing the different timbers, safely machining and re-purposing them into some beautiful pieces of furniture. Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) was used to produce some Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM); laser cut etching and 3D Printing, in some of the students work which gave contrast to the old jarrah timbers they recycled. The students are really proud of their projects as you can see from the photo.
Mr Evans, Year 11 General Woodwork
Chess Club
Lynwood Chess Club meets regularly during recess and lunch. A sizeable number of students make use of this opportunity to learn and challenge others with their skills. Playing chess helps one to focus, improves the memory, enhances lifestyle, and encourages players to socialise with their family and friends. Playing chess is also good stress relief!
Although chess is a game that has been played since ancient times, it has not lost its value and is used as the subject of many studies in literature. It is a ‘brain game’ that will be played years from now as many people continue to enjoy it.
Recently, our students participated at the Inter-School Chess League organised by the Chess Association of WA.
Chintushig Chinbat in Year 10 won individual 2nd place, Secondary Division, South Zonal championship. Congratulations!

The School Based Immunisation Program (SBIP) is a well-established service that offers National Immunisation Program immunisations to students in Years 7 and 10.
This year, the SBIP will also offer COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible students in Years 7 through to 12 at selected schools as part of the regular schedule of immunisations based within schools.
The VaccinateWA system is now to be used by parents/carers to complete the vaccination consent form in order to consent to their children/dependents receiving vaccinations whilst at school. (Note: VaccinateWA is not being used to book appointments for the School Based Immunisation Program).
To provide consent for vaccination, the first step is to register the child/dependant on VaccinateWA. Log into your VaccinateWA account and follow the steps to “Add or manage dependants”. If you do not have a VaccinateWA account, you will need to create one for yourself first.
Step by step information for using VaccinateWA is available on the HealthyWA website. Please call 13 COVID (13 26843) if you have any technical issues with VaccinateWA.
If you are unable to complete the online consent form - and you have not already handed in a paper consent form – the school will have forms available for you to use. If the information you provide needs to be clarified, you may be contacted by a staff member from the vaccination team.
If you have already completed and returned a paper consent form, the SBIP team are currently uploading the information into the VaccinateWA system. This process may take several weeks, and you will receive an email confirming once it has been done.
