MUQATAEA REWORKS

THE PROJECT

"The album "Muqataea" is dedicated to my homeland and describes it through a point of view between reality and imagination. So I'm really excited that all the artists involved in the project of the album "Muqataea Reworks" have added their personal point of view through their music and creativity. I believe that art brings people together and so the collaboration between artists is very important in my opinion because can give beauty to our society through dialogue and cultural exchanges.

THE COMPOSER

Francesca Guccione

Francesca Guccione is an Italian composer and violinist. After graduating in Violin at the "A. Scarlatti Conservatoire", she got a Master’s Degree in Film and Media Scoring at the "L. Boccherini Conservatoire" and a Master’s Degree in Film Scoring at the "F. Venezze Conservatoire" with the final vote 110/110 summa cum laude. She played the violin in different cities around the world like New York, Toronto or Alexandria of Egypt. In 2021 she released her first album, “Muqataea”, under the artistic direction of the cellist and composer Giovanni Sollima and also a remix of “Rebirth”, a track by the French composer Hélène Vogelsinger. In 2022 she did a rework of "Hysope", a track by the composer Arandel.

With her music she tries to explore the chemistry between sound and image, taking her inspiration from the beautiful landscapes and colors of her homeland and from all the places she visited during her many travels. Her creativity is dreamlike and poetic, a doorway to inner worlds.

Her music is on Whales Records, InFinè Music and Little Symphony Records.

"From the very opening lines of slowly building recurring string progressions, complemented by deeper atmospheric treatments and triumphant piano notes, it is impossible not to compare this music to that of the dearly missed (and now three years departed) Jóhann Jóhannsson." - (Headphone Commute on Muqataea)

Captivated by soothing melodies, spheric soundscapes, and fragile compositions, the Danish musician Infralyd operates within the realm of electronic minimalism, combining the structural elements of electronic music with the space and vulnerability of ambient and neoclassical music. The organic sound of Infralyd is the result of a daydreaming mind attracted to calm and beautiful things. A traditional Scandinavian upbringing alongside a deep fascination with natural phenomena and a tendency to linger in his thoughts are key aspects of Infralyd’s universe. All this coalesces into melancholic and atmospheric compositions while conveying a sense of familiarity, comfort and warmth.

Bathed early on in a world of music thanks to a melomaniac father, Ruby sung as a soloist in the children’s choir of the Opera de Paris and went on tour, performing classical music all over the world until the inevitable teenage voice break. Further delving into this life of music, he learns guitar and bass, to later play rock, pop and jazz for different bands in Paris. His persona Maury111 reveals itself, during a moment of epiphany, while in a music retreat in the countryside of France organised with Facundo Rodriguez (Chien Méchant) and Basile Monsacré (Egregore), his two life-time friends and musical journey brothers ever since the opera’s choir. From then on, Maury111 blooms by producing introspective “mysticosmic” pop music in his studio in Berlin as well as playing excessively in Berlin and touring in France, Netherland, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and South Korea. Fascinated by desert landscapes since his time in Joshua Tree, CA, Ruby travels in January 2020 to Morocco, staying with a Berber family on the edge of the Sahara, going on long solitary walks in the desert. The debut album “Desert Temple”, getting released one track at a time, month after month from June 2021 on, convey these experiences.
