Plunkett Post TERM 3 WEEK 2

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome back to all students and their families to Term 3. It has started with a bang with students attending various events already. I have also enjoyed seeing our students back at school, refreshed and ready to learn.

I want to take this opportunity to recognise Macarthur Davis on his achievement of making the PSSA State Cross Country Carnival that was held last Friday. He competed in a field of 79 runners and came 23rd. Macca tells me the course was tough. I am sure you would join me in congratulating him on his run and achievement of finishing so well. I know he will work hard to earn the opportunity to better this result next year.

Next week is education week and we will also be holding our NAIDOC celebrations, starting with the flag raising and assembly on Monday. We look forward to sharing photos and reports of the week’s events in the next Plunkett Post.

The start of every term is the time to remind everyone of the importance to student learning and wellbeing when they attend school every day, when well. Attached to Plunkett Post is a flyer from the Department outlining the procedures for student attendance and reporting absences to your child’s teacher.

Over the last two weeks I had the opportunity to host Mrs Tara Cronkwright, a Principal from Ontario, Canada as part of a study tour to learn more about how schools in NSW operate. She spent time with staff as well and participated in our professional learning at the school development day. I will have the opportunity to visit Tara’s school in Ontario during the Term 3 holidays in 2023.

COVID cases seem to be rising again. Along with the flu this is having an impact on student and teacher absences. Please remember to keep your children at home if they are experiencing the flu. Students with COVID must isolate for 7 days. Students who are close contacts are able to attend school, as long as they are symptom free and have a negative RAT for 5 school days.

We are expecting to be able to distribute another round of RATs to students in the near future. Information will be shared with famlies via seesaw.
