Syro-Malabar Catholic Church Katja Monserrat

The Syro-Malabar Catholic Church faithful was started in 1984 with six families and it was registered in 1986. In 2002 the association had over 400 Indian families from all over South Florida.

Traditions and Practices

One of the twelve apostles of Our Lord Jesus Christ came to India in A.D. 52 and preached the gospel and established ecclesial communities.

There were some Jewish settlements in south India at that time due to the commercial relationship between India and Mesopotamia.

Worship and liturgy

Today the Syro- Malabar Vhurch is the second largest eastern church in Catholic communion and constitutes the largest group of St. Thomas Christians.
