The Viking View The NJH PTO Newsletter - Spring Break Edition

north junior high pto works to:

Support Students | Appreciate Educators | Create Community | Sponsor Fun

The Big Give was an ambitious campaign, and it absolutely would not have succeeded without the generosity and support of our donors. Together, we raised $17,125 (exceeding our initial $15,000 goal!) and engaged nearly 200 families. We came together as a community to support our students, educators and families. The feedback on this format was extremely positive – people loved a simple, straightforward fundraiser with little overhead costs or personal time commitment. The Big Give was 100% volunteer-organized, and every dollar raised will go towards funding activities for North students, educators and families. Watch for The Big Give every February, and please consider continuing your support in future years.

Here's a chart showing how we're planning to allocate and spend the money:

There's just one thing left to do to wrap up the big give. friday's planned assembly has been postponed until after spring break, but We'll share all the messy photos here!

Thank you for helping us appreciate our teachers!

The March Madness staff appreciation lunch was a big success. You filled up every spot on the sign up sheet! Thank you to everyone who brought appetizers, desserts and drinks to remind North teachers we think they're the best.

thanks for supporting the cafe zupas fundraiser! stay tuned for results.

PTO events

  • Thanks to those who attended our March PTO meeting. Our next meeting is Monday, 4/3, at 6pm in the North Cafeteria.
  • The 7th grade (Rolling Thunder and Impact) and 8th grade teams (Blue Wave and Phoenix) need parent coordinators for Spring Team Days on Friday, May 17. There is a teacher for each team that will organize the events but they will need a point person to help to coordinate other parent volunteers to chaperone events, deliver/serve lunch, and generally support the day's activities. Please reach out to Ellen or Julie to find out more or volunteer.
  • Spring is the perfect time to learn more about joining the PTO Board and/or PTO Committees next year! Please email Ellen or Julie to find out more. There are roles to fit many different levels of commitment, no experience necessary. We would love to get a mix of 7/8/9th grade families to help. Come join us!

Activity Highlights

  • Library Events- Idaho Battle of the Books (IBOB) battles continue during first lunch! Participants began preparing in September, reading sixteen books selected by a state committee. They spend all of third quarter facing each other in a relentless series of trivia battles to determine which teams will emerge victorious in their mastery of book knowledge. In a little over one month, two teams will represent North Jr. High at the Regional Tournament against teams from multiple counties. While there they will have the chance to meet visiting author Dan Gemeinhart. Do you have what it takes to join their ranks next year?
  • Summer School Sign Ups Live-Applications are now available for Boise School District's Summer Programs. Have your students stop by the counseling office to pick up an application. IDLA applications are available online here. Space is limited so get your application turned in ASAP. Contact 7th grade counselor Ryan Gant, 8th grade counselor Mariah Ruth or 9th grade counselor Christian Lim with questions.
  • Congratulations to North Cheer! All of the hard work paid off for North Cheer on Saturday, March 4th. This amazing group of young men and women absolutely killed it at the Jr. High Cheer Showcase and took home the Best Technique Award. Their coaches couldn't be prouder of this team and all they've accomplished this year. The future is Bright for North Cheer! #VikingPride #NorthNation
