Literacy

This term our key text was a story from another culture.

We sequenced the story.

We up leveled our work with ambitious vocabulary and used conjunctions, adverbials, suffixes and verbs to extend our writing and make it more interesting.

This term we revisited measurement including time, money, length and capacity.

This term we looked at animals and their habitats.

We started by looking at the 7 processes of living things.

Mrs GREN and actions helped us to remember these.

We explored different habitats.

We explored microhabitats in our school grounds.

We worked scientifically to find out which habitat woodlice prefer.

Topic

Art

This half term our art focus was painting. We learnt about the artists Picasso and Hockney and discussed the similarities and differences between their work.

Colour washing our sketchbooks.

We looked at the colour wheel and identified primary and secondary colours.

Mixing colours.

We investigated what happened when we added black or white to our colours. We then used what we had learnt to create different shades.

Applying painting techniques.

We looked at different brushes and discussed why they would be used.

We thought carefully about colour choices and brushes when planning our masterpiece.

Religious Education

Our key question this term was - What can be learned from the lives of significant people of faith?

We looked at respect and close positive relationships.
