Achieve Your Best Chapel hill-chauncy hall

At Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall, we cultivate intellectual courage, creative ambition, and unwavering empathy.

We are a school where learning reaches beyond academic proficiency. We facilitate the growth and development of our students’ skills, interests, and abilities in a teaching environment that inspires inquiry, creativity, discovery, and collaboration. Because our students understand how they learn, they are persistent self-advocates, and they are thoroughly resourceful—skills that prepare them as students and as leaders.

We are a welcoming community where everyone is genuinely encouraged to be themselves. Students learn to seek out, connect with, and surround themselves with adults who inspire—not only through their passion for teaching, but also as mentors who model the qualities students seek for themselves.

We see one another, we hear one another, and we work together to create an authentic culture of inclusivity. The result? Students who develop a sense of strength, engagement, and awareness that drives them to achieve their best.

Be You

Teenagers who feel comfortable being themselves and who accept one another without judgment? Yes, it’s true, and it’s one of the most incredible things about our students. At CH-CH each student is recognized as an individual and is embraced by a community of peers who respect them just as they are.

Our culture of equity and inclusivity inspires values of integrity, empathy, and social responsibility. We encourage conversations about our commonalities and our differences as we guide students to apply their awareness, knowledge, and skills toward creating a community of belonging.

Experiencing this level of comfort and support during some of the most impactful years of human development is powerful and long-lasting. Our graduates are empowered with the courage to express themselves as creative, forward-thinking, and socially aware individuals with the potential to go on to do great things—and they do.

“Having BIPOC teachers and staff meant so much. Especially with a young black man building his identity from ages 14-18. Being able to talk to someone who looks like you makes all the difference.” Parent

Unlock Your Potential

Something incredible happens at CH-CH, and it occurs when students experience a just-right mix of challenge and support.

Because we are a small school, we are able to make a student’s academic journey personal. We purposefully dedicate time to know and appreciate our students for who they are. By understanding their individual stories, strengths, challenges, interests, and backgrounds, we can best guide them toward their full potential.

Our teachers are experts at developing an innovative curriculum that is both challenging and personally meaningful: We teach the way students learn. This approach inspires and engages without overwhelming. It encourages intellectual curiosity and inspires ambitious learners to expand academic pursuits through their passions. Most of all, this personal and balanced approach to learning sets our students on the path to finding joy in the lifelong practice of learning.

“I don’t ask for help because I can’t, I ask for help because I can.”

Express Yourself

It takes an incredible level of self-awareness and self-confidence to know that asking for help is a strength. For CH-CH students, this path to understanding is guided by the adults around them.

We are a relationship-centered school where connections between students and adults are genuine and form through shared interests and mutual respect. Over time, each student builds a network of trusted adults around them who mentor, encourage, support, and inspire. Our students are known; therefore, they feel comfortable taking intellectual risks and are empowered to express themselves.

All students find that their success exponentially grows when they use their voice. They understand that being a skilled self-advocate is a direct link to achieving their goals. Need help? Ask for it. Want to apply your passions to an independent study that reaches beyond the curriculum? Ask for the resources. Want more accelerated courses? Ask for them. Want an internship? Ask for a referral. All of this teaches a CH-CH student one thing: speaking up for yourself is a superpower.

“He was pushed out of his comfort zone and this is what helped him discover so much about himself and what he was capable of achieving.” Parent

Create Your Story

Imagine attending a school where you feel confident jumping out of your comfort zone and trying something new because you knew that you had the support of the entire community behind you? This happens at CH-CH all the time, and it’s magical to witness. So many of our students begin a story with, “I never thought I would…” and end with “...and now I love it.”

From the moment you step on campus, you will feel it: the inviting warmth of our community. Our genuine care and concern for each other, our willingness to show up for one another’s experiences, and most importantly, our commitment to learn from each other is at the core of who we are.

“I love that no matter what, I know that at CH-CH someone’s got her back.” Parent

Take Charge

When CH-CH graduates arrive at college, they already know how to succeed as students. They know how they learn, how to adapt to different learning settings and styles, advocate for themselves, and manage their time and resources. But our students graduate more than prepared for college—they are prepared to engage and lead.

We live in a world where the ability to navigate challenges is becoming increasingly necessary. CH-CH provides the very best foundation for students to develop the skills they will need to navigate the complexities of the future. This is because when students feel safe, nurtured, and connected to the people around them, they are able to navigate challenges knowing they will be supported. This comfortable risk-taking is key to developing the maturity, self-awareness, and confidence graduates will need to take charge of their futures.
