Lighting the Way: Inauguration of President Vela

Hundreds of university faculty, staff, students, alumni, and members of the Javelina Family and surrounding South Texas communities were in attendance yesterday, Nov. 29th, for the Presidential Inauguration of Dr. Robert H. Vela Jr. as the 22nd President of Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Campus was adorned with banners featuring those who had forged the path for current Javelina students as well as those who continue Lighting the Way for future Javelina Alumni.

Students Receive Standout Support During 2022 Javelina Day of Giving

The third-annual Javelina Day of Giving for Texas A&M University-Kingsville was held Sept. 15, 2022, garnering a record-breaking total of more than $575,000 in funds raised for our university. With over 850 participants in the campaign, the steadfast support of our university donors and their impact on the lives of Javelina students is undeniable.

University Named Top in Nation for Social Mobility

Texas A&M University-Kingsville was named a Top Performer in Social Mobility, as determined by U.S. News and World Report. The publication ranked the university among the top 10 public universities in Texas to make the list’s Top 100. The university ranked #75 in the nation.

Texas A&M-Kingsville Establishes Mexican American Studies Institute

The Texas A&M System Board of Regents approved the formation of the Mexican American Studies Institute (MASI) at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. MASI will be under the direction of Dr. Alberto Rodriguez, associate professor of history.

Sid Blanks Social Justice Symposium Brings Lance Blanks to Campus

The Sid Blanks Social Justice Symposium was held on campus on Nov. 4th, drawing the attendance of students, faculty and staff at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Lance Blanks, the youngest son of the late Sid Blanks '62, was invited as a speaker to the event, which highlighted the profound & lasting impact of his father not just at our university, but as the first African-American football player to play in the Lone Star Conference.

Dr. Bart Ballard '93 Named Regents Professor

Congratulations to Dr. Bart Ballard, Department Chair of Rangeland and Wildlife Sciences in the Dick & Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture & Natural Resources, who has been named a Regents Professor by the Texas A&M University System!

Dr. Linda Villarreal Named Interim Dean of the College of Education and Human Performance

On Dec. 1st, Dr. Linda Villarreal '79, '86, '03 will assume responsibilities as Interim Dean of the College of Education and Human Performance. Dr. Villarreal earned her bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

During her 44-year career thus far, Dr. Villarreal has served as a classroom teacher, campus principal, superintendent of schools and executive director for the Education Service Center, Region 2; co-president and founder of Ed-Point, LLC, a private educational consulting firm; Adjunct Professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Louisiana State University Shreveport; board member for the Rural Schools Innovation Zone; and board chair and member of Southwest Educational Development Laboratory.

Javelinas Head to the Heritage Bowl

Your Javelinas are taking on the East Central University Tigers in the NCAA Division II Fun Town RV Heritage Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 3rd, at 12pm.

Headed to the game? Tailgate with us in Corsicana, starting at 9:30am! Meet us at the Javelina Club tent in the Home Team Tailgating area parking lot.

If you can't make the trip, the event will be broadcast live locally on The CW, an affiliate of KRIS Communications.

The Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering is seeking nominations for the Engineering Hall of Fame, as well as nominations for a new category of recognition - Outstanding Young Alumnus/Alumna.
