Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!
This final half term feels like it is flying by! This week in school our anti-bullying ambassadors from across Key Stage 2 have been working together to think of ideas to implement in school next year. Our aim is to educate children across school about bullying and develop a team of children who can support and educate other pupils, including through whole school assemblies next year. Next week we have our transition day on Friday 8th July. All of our children will get to meet their new class teachers for the day. Children will be dropped off and picked up from their current classroom by parents but will spend the vast majority of the day with their new teacher, including our new members of staff, Mr Naylor in Year 6 and Miss Galbraith in Year 5.
We would like to invite you all to our Summer Fayre on 20th July. From 2:00pm parents will be welcome to collect their children from class, bring a picnic blanket and picnic and join us to play games on stalls run by our Year 6 pupils. We hope to see you there – fingers crossed for good weather!
Parents and family members are invited to come along and support their children at sports days this year. Please see the date for your class on the Diary Dates section below. Sports Days will be held on the school field. Please look out on Twitter / email on the day in case of rain. If it does rain, we will have to unfortunately rearrange the date.
We are all very excited for our end of year show ‘Hairspray’ which will be performed on 19th and 20th July at The Academy Theatre in Birdwell. Our Year 6 pupils have been working incredibly hard with Mr Ormondroyd on the show while our Year 4 and 5 pupils will be joining to support them in the choir. It promises to be a great evening! Tickets are now on sale at The Academy Theatre Box Office.
Every Monday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life.
