ITA Senior Player of the Year Award

Elodie Busson from Hawaii Pacific University has been named the 2023 ITA Senior Player of the Year.

Busson helped lead the Sharks to a Semifinal finish at the 2023 NCAA Championships, capping off a decorated career at Hawaii Pacific.

Undefeated in singles play against NCAA Division II opponents this season, Busson has notable wins over players from Barry, UIndy, North Georgia, and Azusa Pacific.

This past fall, Busson was the ITA West Regional singles & doubles winner, and reached the Semifinals of both singles and doubles at the ITA Cup.

Busson finished the season with a 24-3 singles record and 14-7 doubles record. In the year-end rankings she ranked No. 13 in singles.

Busson has been the heart of the Hawaii Pacific team and its leader - through her work ethic, her attitude, and her ability to make the team have fun.

A Letter From Head Coach Lauren Conching

Dear Bubusse,

Congratulations on winning the national ITA Senior Player of the Year Award. I cannot think of a more deserving person for this award and I am honored to have witnessed your evolution as a college tennis player and person. Your undeniable talent on the court, passion for the game and ability to make almost every opponent your friend makes you a very special type of athlete.

You are truly an artist on the tennis court and in life, and I hope there is never pressure for you to be put in a box. Thank you for being the heart of this team and a friend to all those around you. May you continue to be “you”, always. I am so proud of you.

Big aloha,

Lauren
