Dorothy Harris Sunrise - December 16, 1939 ~ Sunset - August 21, 2022

On Sunday, August 21 st 2022, Dorothy Harris, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grand mother took her final breaths. She was 82.

Dorothy was 1 of 10 children born to Brown and Elizabeth Harris, both of whom preceded her in passing.

Dorothy graduated from Shadeville High School and later received her cosmetology degree. She spent 20+ years at Metcalf Crab House before eventually retiring from General Dynamics powerplant.

Known far and wide for how she wielded her hot comb and marcels, many spent countless hours in her “beauty parlor”. In fact, she spent the day before her passing doing her famous press and curl.

Dot was a listener to anyone who needed an ear. Never one to pass judgment, she gave tough advice, but it came from her heart.

And if she gave you advice from her left hand, in her right was a plate of soul food, unmatched for miles around. Never one to meet a stranger, Dot left a lasting impression with every interaction.

In her younger years she was an avid fisher and spent many a day at her favorite holes. She was able to squeeze in a trip here and there in recent times as it remained one of her favorite pass times. She also enjoyed being on her tablet and her “spin to win” games. An annual girl’s trip was another highlight and she would start to plan for next year right after the current trip.

Her faith in God served her throughout her life. After giving her life to Christ at an early age, Dot became a member of New Bridge Hope in

1952, where she was a faithful member until her passing. After service, everyone knew they could find her in the lunchroom.

Including her parents, Dorothy was also predeceased by 7 siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Spencer, and Rhonda Cooper (Marvia).

Granddaughter, Tieshia Harvey. Great-grands, Tamarion Parker, and Iyana Hester. Grandson, Micah Franklin. Siblings, Rebecca Addison and Clint Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, friends and loved ones.

The family of the Late Dorothy Harris WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KINDNESS AND CONDOLENCES!
