"Music Around Town is about all of the music that exists within my small city. I was inspired to start photographing musicians because of an opportunity I got to photograph Modest Mouse when they visited Charlottesville (first 5 photos). Though I wasn't able to photograph any other major bands at big concert venues, I continued my theme by shooting a benefit jazz concert for Ukraine at the Whiskey Jar (second 5 photos) and a local guitarist playing during brunch at Tavern & Grocery (last 4 photos). My goal was to capture the diversity in music and I really enjoy the way the entire portfolio turned out." -Naomi Ruzek
