Content Info For The Week
Check here for unit updates, important due dates, and more!
Math: Students will begin unit 1 where they will create, interpret, and solve linear equations and linear inequalities in one variable to model and explain real phenomena. This week students will complete two tasks; Geology Rocks! and Family Game Plan.
Algebra I: Students will take the Algebra I MAP on Monday, August 14th.
Science: Students will be exploring states of matter as we begin Unit 1: Matter. First test is scheduled for August 25th.
ELA: This week students will continue their focus on elements of a narrative, using their understanding of figurative language to create a digital imagery board based on Oranges or The Rose That Grew From Concrete. We will then begin our historical context research project on the 1960s in preparation for our first in-class novel, The Outsiders.
Read180: Students will begin Workshop 7 "Vanished!" This workshop introduces students to the study and exploration of lost worlds and the methods and technology archaeologists use to find them. The will also learn about ancient civilizations that have been found, and what we can learn from the discoveries made.
9th Grade Lit: This week students will continue their analysis of The Most Dangerous Game and The Necklace, examining each for examples of direct and indirect characterization, as well as other elements of a narrative. Students will create a body map based on one of the short stories to demonstrate their understanding of how an author can convey specific character traits to an audience.
Social Studies: Students will begin working on their final project for unit 1 covering Geography. Students will create a Walking Dead zombie escape plan where they are tasked with escaping across all 5 regions.
