ParentSquare: G-C will be using ParentSquare for all communication. They will no longer use Seesaw or Class Dojo for parent communication. Those platforms will only be used for academic purposes. Please download the app so you can receive messages from your teacher, myself, and the corporation. You can access ParentSquare on the left sidebar of PowerSchool as well.

Visitors/Volunteers: Please make sure you have a valid background check on file. You can access the link here. You will not be permitted to volunteer without one on file. We appreciate your compliance with this and helping us keep our students and staff safe.

Safety @ Weston

Safety Facts:

Greenfield - Central uses STOPit! for anonymous reporting of potential incidents. We have switched from Safe Schools to STOPit! You may access the link on the Weston Website and the bottom of this newsletter.

Yearly Safety Drills Administered at Weston:

All visitors must come through Door 1. Adults must provide a valid picture ID and obtain a visitor badge. If volunteering, you must have a valid background check on file. You may fill out the form here. The Raptor system is used to generate a visitor badge that must be worn at all times when volunteering.

As a building leader, I am a certified safety specialist through the Indiana Department of Education. This is a yearly certification with professional development provided through the IDOE.

Hand held metal detector wands: If there is reasonable suspicion that a student or adult has possession of dangerous materials, they may be searched.

Social Worker Corner ~ Mrs. Miller

Hello! My name is Mrs. Terry Miller and I am the school social worker at Weston Elementary. You may find me working with students 1-1 or in small groups, in classrooms teaching a variety of social-emotional lessons, consulting with teachers and parents, interfacing with community members about available resources, or just out and about in the building establishing and strengthening relationships. If there is anything I can help you with during the year, please feel free to contact me.

My first resource of the year to share is about school supplies. School supplies can be expensive and many families are unable to afford them. Please consider the following resources:

  • A Back to School Celebration will be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 31 at Mt. Comfort Church. The worship service will include food, fun and fellowship, along with a backpack blessing and school supply giveaway. The church is located at 3179 N. 600W., Greenfield. For more, visit MtComfortChurch.com.
  • School supplies will also be available at each of the Greenfield-Central Schools for their students.
  • Assistance is available to veteran families for back-to-school supplies and other school-related expenses.
  • The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs announced the Family Relief Fund Operation Back to School program is now open for applicants. Indiana veteran families experiencing financial hardship may be eligible for up to $500 for each dependent for school-related items and needs.
  • Hoosier veteran families may apply for eligible dependents attending kindergarten to 12th grade (up to 18 years of age) and full-time college students (up to age 23) that live in the veteran’s home. Applicants must provide a DD-214, W-9, direct deposit form, proof of income, bank statement and proof of child’s residency. The program may only be used to provide services to veteran families experiencing financial hardship who reside in Indiana, have served in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, and hold a discharge form of a DD-214 or National Guard Bureau Form 22. Apply at in.gov/dva by clicking on “Military Family Relief Fund.”

School Dismissal Manager ~ Weston Elementary School uses a dismissal managing software called School Dismissal Manager (www.schooldismissalmanager.com) for all transportation arrangements and changes. Parents are able to manage where and when students go after school securely online. It is our hope that this online (or smartphone) process will make things easier for you when you have changes or recurring arrangements! You will receive a welcome email with your login credentials in the next few weeks, so please be on the lookout for this. I will also send out an email once the logins are sent to you as a reminder. For those of you who used this system last year, ALL parents will receive a new welcome letter and new login credentials.

Community & GC Club Opportunities

Calendar and Menus

School Lunch & Breakfast Fees ~ The school meals program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, school corporations across the country have been operating with the use of a federal waiver that allowed them to feed every child for free through the end of this school year. The use of this waiver will not be available this school year and corporations will return to the traditional eligibility requirements for free, reduced and paid meals. This means that for School Year 2022-2023, our school corporation will be charging students for breakfasts and lunches. Free & Reduced Application for Families

EZ School Pay ~ Lunch Accounts - Greenfield-Central is once again using www.ezschoolpay.com to put lunch money in your child’s lunch account (there is a small fee and you will need your child’s student number found on Powerschool). Lunch money may also be submitted by check when you come to registration. Please be sure to keep your child’s lunch account in good standing. Additionally, our cafeteria computer system does not have the capabilities to put a “block” on student lunch accounts for purchasing extra lunch items. You will want to make sure your child is on the same page as you when it comes to spending lunch account money. FYI, you can also pay textbook rental fees and iPad insurance on ezschoolpay as well! https://www.ezschoolpay.com/Login.aspx

YMCA

YMCA ~ We do offer YMCA after school care. Weston students will be bussed after school to Harris Elementary. Please visit the link below to register your student and read more information regarding the program.
